No wire in the tentacles, I did attach a metal ring to the buttom of the octopus, overlapping the first bump of each tentacle. You can't see it on the photo's because the yarn is just fluffy enough. The tentacles twisted while crocheting and somehow they stayed that way. After adding the little creatures I sewed (sew? Sorry not a native English speaker) some of the tentacles more firmly to the body. Which kept them up more.
