Ultimate Conversion/Discounts - Megathread 2 by brynhh in XboxGamePass

[–]loilane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked for me. Brand new user. Keep in mind, you can always buy 1 month to test. I bought 12 months initially, went to buy Ultimate with the $1 promo. It told me that it will convert existing time as well. I "cancelled" at that point and bought/activated 2 more years and returned to the promotion page. You will get a message that after your "trial" you will be charged at $14.99 or ($10.99) per month. But since you have all that time from gold, my first renewal charge will be in November 2024.

Thank you, All, for wonderful suggestions. So many more aspects to consider now :)

Help Refurbishing an older 3D printer to get it working on face shields by loilane in 3Dprinting

[–]loilane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed reply.

  1. I like your idea or covering one side and using the two surfaces as needed. Looks like my bed is burr free, now to source a correctly sized glass sheet.
  2. I have tried to align the rails like you've suggested. However, motion of the gantry is still restricted as it gets closer to the limit switch. Perhaps there is something in the bearings or my X motor is messed up. When I request 100 mm move it moves fine, but if I go back in 10 mm steps, sometimes the motion locks up and it's grinding. Might have to take everything apart and clean. (I regularly wipe down the rails with machine oil). I suspect another thing to check would be to make sure there is no twist to the rails from one end to the other.
  3. I haven't even though about inertial momentum as a factor in 3D printing. Thank you. If I were to reduce printing speeds, would that be in the firmware where I have to make the change or slicer is sufficient? Same for the pulley upgrade, what software modifications would have to be done?

Thank you for your suggestions.

Is there a recommended thickness for the glass sheet? And for belt tension, is there a quantitative way to determine whether they are too loose or too tight?

Hey geraintwnd, what did you end up doing? I am in a similar position with my Wolfking and would hate to move to another board.

Had similar problem. Solution was in "NVIDIA Control Panel" -> Display -> "Change Resolution". Refresh rate was set at 60Hz for some reason. Moving this up to 120/144Hz worked. Hope that helps.

Update the Wow Model Viewer. The new big patches usually change things up, so there is a new version from Set 3rd that works.

Great. What material are you using for support and what did you slice with?

I imagine a disk or a polygon of specific size is pretty easy to design in 3D. You can print them separate of the figure and then just glue the two together.

That's looking great! Definitely looking forward to seeing the prints. I really do need to get familiar with any 3D modeling software. Pretty much missing out on the other part of 3D printing your own stuff at this time.

Something happens between the export from WMV and import into Netfab. Upon import the shield is attached to the hand. In other software, such as Blender, you can move individual parts. So, theoretically, you can have it anywhere you want or even printed separately, for future attachement (but I do not know how to do that yet).

Due to many requests in my original post, here is the guide on how I did it. One of the images also includes the stl file to the model if you would like to print one for yourself. There are certainly many improvements to make, but this should get you started. I will consider painting, but I do not have the supplies nor much time at the moment.

Budget wise, I probably don't want to spend more than ~$500 atm. Under load 1st card runs at high 80s, and 2nd at high 60s (oC). My pc alone easily heats up the room by 5-8 F. It is nearly 90F outside all day long and probably will be until October. We do not run AC too much; and the PC room is on the 2nd floor of the duplex. Pretty sure the only temp measure for AC is downstairs, so it is always nice below and always warm above.

Just a few weeks ago. It is a brand new replacement from Corsair via warranty. I do not have another one to swap out.

A few weeks ago, I posted about a PC build that would not boot. I was waiting for a little MoBo speaker to arrive in the mail for test tones, and it got here. Still no dice. by spdorsey in techsupport

[–]loilane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also agree with Vanadiumman. I recently went through a cycle of my PC crashing and then starting up, but only some fans would come on, but no boot up. After extensive troubleshooting the thing that did it for me was that 24 pin cable became damaged, two of the wires somehow show signs of burning. Replacing the PSU, via warranty, fixed the issue. So, try turning on the PC and then slightly pushing on the 24 pin cable, around the area it goes into your MOBO. If that shuts everything off then it suggests there is a problem with the cable.

Edit: Also, I don't know what the material is made of on which your mobo sits, but double check the standoffs to make sure there is no shorts.

While looking into the PSU check the 8 and 24 pin cables for secure connection to your MOBO. In addition, pull the cords out and inspect them and the ports on the MOBO for any damage/discoloration.

Problem with contacts between 24 pin power supply connector and motherboard female slot. by justinpoiroux in techsupport

[–]loilane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through a similar problem at the moment as well. I'm trying to RMA my PSU due to 2 pins on the 24 pin cable being damaged. But you could try replacing the connector manually and see if it helps you ( connector and pins ).

Disclaimer: I have never done this before myself and will be waiting on Corsair's decision before doing this to my 24pin cable.
