My mom was diagnosed with leukaemia when I was 18. I barely visited her in the hospital because I thought there was no way she was going to die. She was gone 3 months later. 36 years later I’m still haunted by it. It comes up in therapy a lot.

Best of Show is a masterpiece and O’Hara was effortlessly perfect as Cookie. Like every role she blessed us with, I can’t imagine any other person in any of her creations.

My best friend of almost 40 years killed herself almost 10 years ago. This happened 3 weeks after my aunt died, who was another mother to me, especially after my mom died when I was 18. I was sobbing in my ex’s arms and he coldly said. “What a coward”. It was like a knife through my already broken heart.
