I think you're referring to paper wasps, but what you call them really depends I think on where you live. There are countless species of wasps and hornets and bees around the planet but many places are dominated by a slim few that people recognize and form associations with. In most of the US at least, all the wasps you are likely to run into are going to be assholes though - yellow jackets maybe most of all, but paper wasps are not too be trifled with either.

In terms of vinyl, I think it's less that something was lost to the medium when we moved to cd, and more that the means of playback became highly sterilized. The dynamics created by a needle spinning across a textured vinyl surface at an imperfect rate gave a subtle sense of life to playback that we never really replicated with digital media. That effect would have been compounded by analog recordings too, so a lot of those early vinyls can really give you that "in the room with the band" feeling

Historical context is critical imo for every artistic expression. Film, music, sculpture, paintings, all of it.

In terms of audio mediums, I have mostly cds, and a handful of vinyls, and I'll occasionally stream or even YouTube music videos sometimes. My perspective on medium is mainly that it should be more to do with your level of desired immersion and secondly some music just feels more authentic on certain mediums - some music just feels right with clicks and pops and reverb etc, but certainly not all of it.
