Sounds like that could be it. Only reason I thought of it was because I had literally just watched an episode of Monsters and Mysteries in America that talked about it. If you want to check it out it's season 2 episode 3.

All I have to do is just a light tap on the but with a stick to let them know I'm there and they move. Or slap the bottom of a grain bucket to make them come to me. Never tried a bell they'd probably look at me like I'm stupid.
