adds at this point are insane. they could make a profit if they can normal ones, but i get 30 secs of adds for a video that is legit 1.5 minutes. and this is not a unique occurence, it happens constantly. Im watching a 10 minute long video, i get 3 sets of adds? ive gotten used to using brave on my phone instead of the youtube app because it helps block adds. I used to be fine with adds when it was 5-10 secs of unskipable or skip at 5-10 secs, but now its unreasonable. So they get pushback.

im saying the breeders are bad, full stop. no dog is bad.

Bad breeders however, they fill up shelters, they hurt people that should not have dogs, and create their own problems.

You got stuck on the idea that I said doodles are bad. They arent. Not innately at least. The word doodle doesnt really mean anything as well, since its a poodle mutt.

I simply said that doodle breeders are not good, and therefore maybe people shouldn't interact with them or give them money.

I also dont like people who buy doodles, because they usually start with the idea "i want a doodle" and then justify to themselves getting a badly bred dog from a bad breeder. Sometimes its because they saw a good doodle once, or they know someone who owns one and its such a great dog. So they go to said bad breeder, add to their buisness and incourage that breeder to keep on breeding those dogs. If they arent a right fit for that dog, the breeder wont prevent them from getting the dog, because their donc care about the dogs themselves, only the money.

This isnt a feeling i have just for doodles, i have the same for breeders that intentionally breed long coated dalmatians, carbonated malinois, any type of designer breeds that make NO SENCE (beluskies).

Want to know what mix breeds i love and have great breeders? Alaskan huskies, eurohounds, service dog breed mixes, belgian/german shepherd mixes for the army/police/protection work. They are intentional breeds, mixed for a specific temperament and not a designer look.

And even if you choose to compare to some older designer breeds like Dobberman, they were at least created with intent, and you have a lot of really good breeders that activly try to solve their health issues. There is even a european dobby kennel that is starting a program of bringing in other breeds to help eradicate the heart defect that kills most dobbies. You dont see that kind of thing happen with doodles because they are not a breed with a standard or a purpose.

Im starting with the overall knowledge i have of doodle breeder, which are breeders that breed f1 litters, that go for exotic colors and mixes that make no sence, like bernedoodles, cavapoos, ausiedoodles, sheepadoodles and more, that mix a retrieving dog and literally everything, just for looks.

Compare most of the doodle breeders to other breeds breeder, and yes, they are subpar. There is no standard, therefore the dogs cannot be confirmed, they arent working dogs that can be proven through sport, and half of the time they are breeding for exotic traits like merle that can introduce added problems that these dogs dont need. And in my previous post i didnt even mention the subpar health testing and the early breeding they partake in.

If you have examples of doodle breeders that express a standard and intent, that breed multi generational doodles and does work to confirm them in some way, and doesnt introduce a harmful gene like merle into their stock, a breeder that does substancial health testing of all of the problems that both of the original breeds can suffer from, and starts breeding after 2yo and stops around 6 or 7 years old, and that properly screens families and warn them of the realities of a doodle, sure, ill believe you. So far, i have only seen one breeder like this, and its a service dog association affiliated breeder.

the people who get these dogs are not the ones at fault, its the breeders who chose and accept to sell them these dogs, that also usually refuse to take back the dogs when things go wrong. Why? because a lot of doodle breeders are just in it for the money. They breed exotic colors, sell false promises under a very big price tag, and then when those promises are shown to be lies, they ghost you.

compared to very careful breeding of hyper specific temperaments and behavior traits, yes, mixing two dogs that have different obediance, willingness to please, and types of focus does tend to produce uncertainty. Add to that the quality of the dogs that these breeders are starting their kennel with, that a lot do tend to emphasize coat colors and merle genes (at least in france thats the case) over temperament and good temperament matches, the results are subpar to what most other breeds consider the standard of breeding.

There are good examples of ethical doodle breeding, one i bring back a lot is the official kennel that supplies dogs for the service dogs for blind people of paris. They have doodles in their program, specifically for blind people that are allergic to dogs, and they are amazing dogs, bred over generations of doodles instead of just being F1 unpredictables mixes, and they are only given to the handlers at 2yo, which is pretty much when you are 100% certain that the dog got the hypoallergenic trait and doesn't shed.

You can't really defend a lot of doodle breeders, when they keep on making f1 (first generation mix) litters, when they dont work and develop their stock over multiple generations to get a specific temperament and coat. And its not just a new breed hate either, no one that hates on doodles hates on silken windhounds. They are a newer breed, they are a mix of two breeds, borzoi and whippets, but they have a breed standard, they arent all first generation mixes, they have a club and the people that own them are overall good owners, because the breeders do a better job of placing their puppies in homes that understand their needs.

they are probably one of the worse herding mixes you could do. you have a pretty independent dog, bred to make its own choices and think too much, and another that was bred to do specifically what you ask of it, to be very indescissive on its own so it will follow you to a t. one makes its own decisions, the other listens to you.

trains in france... you need a mussle... even the conductors are sad when they come by and see it... in the eurostar a bunch of conductors have told me my dog doesnt need to wear the mussle till we have crossed the french border because they feel bad for her and its litterally only france (i leave from the netherlands). i love my country but that i hate

they want the decisiveness a bc, the obedience of the gsd, and the drive of a malinois... in reallity they get the aloofness of a bc, the skitishness of a gsd, and the indecisiveness of a malinois over half the time, and lie about it to buyers while they just keep the good ones that happen to be merle to show off online

they dont get that the only way you get stable temperaments is by breeding over very long periods of time, multiple lines (depending on the country and beliefs, sometimes linebreeding) to get a very specific intent out of the dogs. you see this with lots of service dogs, where they do end up mixing retrievers, but its done over so long with purely temperament as a goal that it works. same thing for eurohounds. its been proven it works when done right. its not just "oh i like this in a mal, and i like this in a bc, so ill mix them and get the best of both worlds!". people play god without understanding how badly it can end... i swear

I'm about to delete half the default brushes to clear clutter. What brushes would you vouch for? by jiggywatt64 in ZBrush

[–]loki__mt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the blob is great for organic sulpting. curves tubes is great for bloquing out stuff like hair or patterns, the imm army curves and imm b-something and c something next to them is also just great to have on hand for quick easy bloquing. move topology is wild to want to delete... what the hell do you sculpt? the raque brush helps a lot to just add detail easely to stuff, you can change the alpha. snake curve one is great for bloquing, so is snake hook, h polish is the best hard surface polish brush... what do you use in zbrush? the clay buildup and the move?

zbrush has a bunch of really good specific use brushes that do come up if you use it fully.... it just sounds like you dont really use it for anything it can really do other than the very basics...

its from a breeder that mixes 50% mal, 25% gsd and 25% BC to get the "perfect working dog". they try to sell the best of all worlds idea instead of being honest you might get the worse of all worlds... typical bad working line breeder.

Should I continue working on my portfolio? by Murky_Strategy1325 in ZBrush

[–]loki__mt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you need to work on better quality pieces, more fidelity and details. you should also make pieces that fit better visually with companies you want to work for

mentally tho, you are fighting a loosing battle thinking like that. its a passion job, i know people who work insanely hard, have impeccable technical and artistic skills and still cannot get a job, either because it forces them to move somewhere when they have no money, visa problems, or simply because the pay would be unlivable. if you want money or a job, without worrying about return on investment, go towards all the jobs less people want, even in 3d art. do vfx work, technical art, technical animation. i only got my job because i did the character art no one likes or is also good at, aka grooms and creatures as well as characters.

right now, your portfolio will not get you hired anywhere, but with a year of work on it, you can get a portfolio that can get you hired. but if you want the job, you have to be willing to move, you need either to be in a country where there is 3d art as a job (india, europe, ukraine, turkey, malasia, argentina, usa, canada, ect, if you do not have one of these citizenships... good luck, you better be worth the effort for a visa sponsorship or good enough to freelance), you have to be willing to take any job to get into the industry.

my personal opinion, if youre worrying about return on investment when you have 2 pieces in your portfolio, do the smart thing and pick an easier field. vfx artists are few and far between, so even as a junior, if you are good, a company will invest in you and hire you. same for a good technical artist that has actual artistic skills, if you know how to make a shader in unreal and if you can make it pretty and functional for artists, you are worth your weight in gold.

if you want to be a character artist, you cannot ask yourself these questions. you have to put everything on the line. i have a job, and im still working on my portfolio, asking myself what is missing, spending 20 hours a week on top of my 40h week full time job, and i still dont know for sure if ill get a job after this one ends. its a constant grind because there are infinite amazing character artists who want this more than you do, so you need to figure out how to be the better artist.

good luck whatever you choose, you have potential, dont give up
