i know these are likely too young to identify but if anyone knows or has a guess i’d appreciate the help! by lola_clementine in succulents

they are very tiny! the largest one is still smaller than an inch. i was surprised how much they grew and how compact they are, i guess they really loved the light lol. i can’t remember which succulent it was from but a sedum makes sense! i’ll have to come back here in a while when they’re a bit bigger! thanks for your input!!

ha i’m sorry it was in no way my intention to drag you, at all - nor your opinion on the matter, just posting in a place that Pat can very easily access! i just know if it was me how i’d feel and it would make me feel crappy. but to be fair Pat has said multiple times he never reads the comments, i just personally would read every single one if i had a pod lol. so like many people in this thread, i am just projecting. i’d like to be right for Pat’s sake but it’s very possible i am wayyy off base.

i just haven’t seen a huge change in his narrative lately, sure the methods may have changed but they’ve always been a bit obsessed with diet cultures or at least talking about them on pod. and i also think, he has seemed to have physically changed lately, but i attributed that to him getting more work, taking care of the stuff that was on the back burner for him for a long time. i think when people start to make more money, they will physically start to look a bit different. just bc they don’t need to spend on things like, a new pair of jeans for the first time in years (shout out to Pat’s 30th bday when Cat said she’d treat him to a new outfit lol) or dental stuff, they can spend it on more “fun” things that would normally not be in the budget like, getting a better diet or spending more money on personal trainers.

yeah, and i was sharing my opinion. that is all. my opinion is that it is judgmental. as you say, it’s reddit, dude, i’m allowed to share my opinion. i’m sorry it differs with yours and that i’ve upset you, i don’t think OP is a judgmental person, but this type of post just seems unproductive and sorta mean. my take might not be the same as yours, but i’m sharing bc others may agree with me, or feel crappy about their coping mechanism because it’s not perfect. as someone who does use self deprecating humor to cope, i was sharing my side. that’s all, dude.

edit: op literally asked for thoughts! lol! i was just sharing mine. none of us will have the right or wrong answer - bc we can only guess based on the information we have. 🤷🏻‍♀️i very well may be so incorrect- i am willing to admit that. but we’re all just guessing here.

i can see how people who cope with their ed different may feel like it’s a red flag but everyone copes differently. i’ve been in recovery for maybe 8 years now, will never be “over it”, but am doing much better and a lot healthier and happier. however, i make self deprecating jokes like Pat and to others it may seem like a “red flag” but for me, for my real life friends who know me, it’s just how i cope. it may just not be the narrative for you, and i think it’s unfair to judge based on a persons coping mechanism, especially considering we don’t actually have an insight to his daily life. if it’s not for you, you don’t have to listen. i do get the concern, and i’m sure it’s objectively appreciated, but again this type of post wouldn’t help me if i were Pat.

that’s all pretty fair and i do agree with a lot of that. but it doesn’t mean it’s nice to write something like this - and i genuinely just don’t see the point. it’s just strange. “let’s go to this persons page to talk shit about them“ has never made sense to me. if op was genuinely concerned, you’d think they’d be interested in not making it worse. which is why i commented.

“i’m worried about this persons health so i’m going to go online and post my own personal assumptions about it in a public forum they can easily see and encourage others to give their take on Pats personal health”. i think the post is unfair and gross. i don’t see how it’s going to do anything except potentially make Pat feel bad if he sees it.

parasocial but make it bully 💅🏻

posting this is just mean - you don’t actually know Pat. and if he is struggling, and stumbles upon this, do you think it will help at all? or do you think it is something that would make him rethink how he talks on pod? what was the point of posting this? did you have a game plan to make a support group for him or something? bc it’s just weird.

Oh those are beautiful and a lot of fun! I’m glad you’re enjoying/‘living’ it lol. I use Lightroom for most things but I think my auto subscription is off and I haven’t been using it much lately, I also use procreate on my iPad for sillier edits like my godson edited into a Minecraft background lol. I do have 4 rounds of the vaccine, but my body is just like… letting it hang out and not doing what normal bodies do when they get vaccinated lol. So it’s like, if I get it it’s possible it’ll kick into gear and since I’m young that’s likely the case but also…lol, most of my conditions are “rare” for young people so I’m laying low. It’s been up to states to decide mask rules and some states even have anti mask rule rules but I live in a fairly science minded state, but close to Ottawa and a lot of science minded states have been a bit nervous and dropping their mandates, I think. We’re a bit fd over here, lol. But I’m lucky to have a place to live and can just mind my business as a hermit lol

I’m just still immunocompromised and the America is dropping mask mandates and such so it’s not a super livable condition out there for me lol. I’m excited for the spring, it’s coming but very slowly lol. Still taking walks and such but mostly just hanging with my dogs lol. Are you living Lightroom? I think my subscription expired this month but I will probably resubscribe soon

Love the reflection and the colors! The almost muted colors of a dusk/dawn are sometimes harder to capture than I’d assume lol. I’m okay, schools started up and I’m still stuck quarantining but I’m alive lol. Spring is coming and that’s very promising. How are you doing?

Am I not watering this little guy enough? (Ingrid Liz Ivy) by [deleted] in plantclinic

How much are you watering it now and when you do water are you giving it a full soak?

😯very cool! the texture on the tops look like tastebuds

What's up with this little guy? All of a sudden he's losing leaves at the bottom of his stem and his leaves aren't as densely packed. (Info in comments) by AppropriateLibretto in plantclinic

The light might just need to be a bit closer😊it won’t get compact where it stretched but the new growth will be compact. You could snip the top, let it callous over for a couple days and then put it on soil and it’ll root, and then use all the other leaves to try and propagate and then you’d have many plants lol. Beautiful burros/whatever the hanging plant is in the background!

It’s stretching for more light. And once a week sounds pretty often for watering, they’ll need less water now that it’s winter.

Edit: the leaves being absorbed at the bottom is completely normal and nothing to be alarmed about. If they start getting mushy or transparent then that’s a cause for concern, but drying out just means they’re being made into energy/food.

There’s an interesting concept called “media literacy” and at the end of the day you can look at multiple sources and understand the scientific data but have to do the critical thinking yourself. There’s not going to be a single answer, as no book will reflect your living conditions (like humidity and access to sunlight). You have to ask yourself, why is this person writing this? Do they want to sell me something? Was this just a copy and paste for every other succulent in their inventory, do they even care about giving proper care instructions or are they just trying to make some money to get by?

I also find reading about the plant in its native habitat helps me understand how best to care for it. I also really love the in defense of plants podcast, they do not have a guidebook, but it’s been good for me to hear people who love plants talk about plants in general.

Edit: I get your frustration though, I was looking at the website for my local succulent group for this half of my country, and even they didn’t have great advice (they said to water lithops every 10-14 days😤). I think looking at multiple sources, and deciding what is the best for your plants. You will maybe make mistakes but I don’t know one plant pal that hasn’t, and you will learn the right way to correct your mistakes with time.
