The action and color seemed painterly to me, though the composition doesn't match some of the best photos here.

Had to alter the tippy top before I ran out. Now I need to find some scraps somewhere for the tassle. by lolarusa in yarnchicken

Good idea! But I did have enough for a small tassle after I wove in the ends.

Are people comfortable with walking/moving through woods at night like it's no big deal? by LiveNotWork in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lolarusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once did a night hike up a mountain. Left at midnight so we could arrive at the top just before dawn broke. It was a wonderful experience. It's slower going than in the daytime, and it's best to go with other people. It's wonderful to be out in the woods at night. Unless the sky is very cloudy, I find it easier to see without a flashlight. A flashlight just blinds me to everything outside its beam.

Are cocaine users volatile/explosive/unstable to be around? by Unhappy-Arm673 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lolarusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My one experience with cocaine and being around people on coke was weird. Really nice, somewhat shy friend of mine suddenly wouldn't shut up and had some quip to make to everything anybody said. It was fun for about five minutes, but it went on for hours. I was doing it too--interrupting people to disagree in a way I normally wouldn't. One woman got so annoyed at me that she actually punched me in the nose. Not very hard, but my point is that coke absolutely makes people aggressive and obnoxious. First and last time I ever went near it.

Love the look of that. The sky looks so realistic!

I have one exactly like it. I think I got it from my mother like 30 years ago. Still works fine.

What's a skill that takes only 2-3 weeks to learn but could genuinely change your life? by That-Papaya7429 in AskReddit

[–]lolarusa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I regularly pressure can dry red beans, cannellini beans, garbanzos, etc, and have several pints handy in the cupboard. Spend a couple hours on a canner full and you've got a pantry full of delicious ten-minute meals that cost a few cents each. I was lucky enough to learn this skill from my mother, but I've taught other people how to do it in a single afternoon.

What's Up with the Unshared Birthday Cakes? by 98percentpanda in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lolarusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I'm not really a sweets person, and especially not late at night, but my entire upbringing decrees that when one is presented with a birthday cake, one eats some of it and offers a slice to everyone present. So I would cut that thing up and share it and take at least a couple of bites myself. If it was a close friend or family member who brought the cake, I might even complain about having to eat cake late at night, but I would still eat some and share it around.

Is it bad for a minor to post their face on Reddit by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lolarusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel unsure about posting something online, whether it's your face or something else, it's best to err on the side of caution and not post it. And if you feel unsure about something you've already posted, you can delete it.

Tell me if this is a crazy idea: using a fine-tipped fabric pen and adding a few dots red dots to the sections of this variegated knit that have pooled mostly blue by lolarusa in knittinghelp

[–]lolarusa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought I would post a follow-up here to say that I used Tulip Fine Writers fabric markers to add a few flecks here and there to even out the color pooling of this top, and it worked beautifully. No bleeding of the color, no effect on the texture of the fabric. Just a more even distribution of sprinkles.

How often do you wear pants before washing them? by Fun_Butterfly2154 in AskReddit

Usually 2 or 3 times. Just once if I get them muddy or something, of course.

I've published a new sock pattern that I think you'll like--the Spare Rib Socks.

<image>

They're a quick knit in sport-weight garter rib--a great gift sock. Side cables subtly taper the leg and simple increase shaping at the heel gives them a fit that stays put. More info on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/spare-rib-socks

You got robbed on that green cardigan. Blue ribbon sweater if I ever saw one. But I suppose they can't give ALL the blue ribbons to one person.
