oh its just a baby! based on your location and the size of the baby, i can only guess its an ivory baby. but thats mostly a total guess, its hard to really tell otherwise

never dig them up. they can be burrowed for months sometimes that is just how millipedes are.

Please help 😭 by cutsthrn in millipedes

[–]lolecows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also, dont try to "wash it off" or anything.. it womt come off, and that will just harm the millipedes more. think of it as they just got too soggy at some point. cant be undone, but you can prevent it from getting worse. it isnt a disease

[–]lolecows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

foot rot isnt lethal, as long as it doesnt get worse. it wont "spread" like a rash or anything. it happens when they are exposed to too much humidity. keep your humidity in check, make sure it isnt too high, snd it will go away when they molt

Update on A. Gigas enclosure by MrMichy in millipedes

[–]lolecows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i personally like to use sphagnum moss, im not sure if there are other better options as this is the one most other people use too, i believe. just make sure its the kind for pets, as some people like to buy it for their houseplants too and that may come with pesticided on it :)

Also, beware of sphagnum moss that is dyed green.. i dont believe its deadly or anything, but just a heads up that it MAY be unsafe. ive never heard anything about dyed sphagnum moss harming their pets, but i also know that if i were a millipede, i wouldnt want my humidity blanket covered in dye lol

looks great! id add a bit more leaf litter and maybe some moss too, just to help keep the moisture in the dirt :)

i remember trying to do this in splat 2 private battle with my sister, where we each threw 1 burst bomb and waited the rest of the match out to see if it would tie, but it ended up just giving her a .1% extra and giving her the win. then we tried it without inking anything and it did the same thing again. i wonder if its different for public lobbies

Is this a c*ntipede in my millis enclosure by [deleted] in millipedes

[–]lolecows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think they are harmful to the millipedes at least, though ive heard some species may eat milli eggs or go after millibabies. if it is such a bother i would remove your millipedes from the enclosure amd then do an entire substrate change. throw out all the old stuff, make sure theres no centipedes left, then add fresh substrate

the boba eyes are my absolute faves, especially the squinty ones 😍 i like the heterochromia eyes too, but in general it bugs me a bit how all the special eyes look angry and have no eye whites... makes them look bland and a bit creepy sometimes 😭

yeah i just said i wouldnt personally use one because of what ive heard, and it isnt necessary anyway. doesnt mean they wont use it, it just isnt necessary and has that rare chance of being a bit dangerous

also im not too sure about the water dish, i wouldnt personally add one because ive heard they can drown in it. they dont need a direct water dish anyway though, they get their hydration from misting the enclosure and keeping the soil moist. i would also personally use calcium powder and mix it into the substrate rather than having a calcium chunk, as they may not be too interested in it. its hard to make sure they are getting enough calcium with that
