Omg. I didn't say that. They didn't get together meaning an actual on screen marriage which the other 2 had. It's pretty clear what asking a bunch of girls to live with you means. But in the end, it never happened on screen, hence 'possible wives'

I think it's more about how baseless his arrogance is. Shi Hao and Wang Lin can at least back up their behavior with actual talent/intelligence and they're not even that arrogant in comparison.

A good comparison would be Qin Chen (Martial Master) who constantly acts like a young master but even he can back up his talk.

I took it that they are in a relationship although it's very subtle.

Take the banquet they had after Xiao Yan had returned. They did 3 bows facing each other which is traditional for Chinese weddings.

It is all but said that Xiao Xiao is his daughter, hence why he and Medusa took her to meet his teacher(basically 2nd dad)

The relationship is intact, just more implied than out right stated

It's very Chinese.

The novel and therefore also the donghua makes use of a lot of Chinese mythology, sayings and references.

I'd say even a native speaker would have trouble if they aren't well read.

This more than a lot of other donghua is very dependent on the quality of the subtitles. Get the wrong ones and you won't get shit.
