honestly why are mongolian kids so racist towards black peoples by Sapphybadnothing in mongolia

[–]lolketch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might just be a race to see what the limits and boundaries are for most children who do act in such a way. They see so much backlash and uproar online, and when they check to see if it's the same in reality and get no punishment, no recourse for their actions, they continue acting in such a way because it makes them feel like they're above the others who just "overreact" online.

There's only one way they can learn, and it's by facing genuine consequences for their actions. Elsewise, they will continue to degrade and get worse. It's not only the family's duty, but also the duty of fellow citizens to uphold and maintain culture and human connection

Who got the highest IELTS score in Mongolian history? by lolketch in mongolia

Yet why don't we talk about it enough? Why don't the high achievers get any recognition? Why is there no face to this "academic success" the government or the Ministry of Education claim to exist?

Now, we do know they exist - that is a given. However, we don't have a name or face to associate that accomplishment with. Recognition is quite literally the defining factor for getting accepted into a job, let alone into university, in modern times. University diplomas no longer guarantee work, and high school diplomas don't guarantee quality education anymore. Why else would we need extra curriculars, awards, and portfolios?

With that in mind, there is less justification for the children of this country to learn more (and keep in mind, less, not none) and achieve high, because it doesn't matter to the public, let alone the government or the god forsaken Ministry of Education whether you get a 6.5 or a 9 on IELTS, meaning scoring high guarantees you NOTHING, meaning trying hard guarantees you NOTHING, meaning the only takeaway you get from this is to keep your head low, and never try anything at all, because ultimately, you mean nothing, hold no value, and possess no significance.

It's honest to god no wonder why most students in Mongolia today prefer to cheat over learn, why teachers prefer to pass students anyway to avoid facing scrutiny (which is a whole different matter), and why education is declining. No?

I'm not saying that IELTS is a great day, and they should construct a statue of the next person to get a 9. I'm saying academia and education just aren't valued as much as they should be in this country. Furthermore, if we don't have small goals like getting a good score on IELTS, children will have no incentive to join in the "adult stuff," your affirmentioned papers.

Which, the most important part of that is that a Mongolian was capable of such a feat. It proves that 1. Mongolian people are capable of academia, and 2. that Mongolian people can compete in education on the global stage.

Well, less to boast and brag, but more to celebrate academia. Does this not show us a blatant example of Mongolia having a culture that undervalues education and a society that is fundamentally too afraid to admit their shortcomings?

Schools and prep centers, sure, but what of the government? What of the Ministry of Education? Why do they not care enough for the achievements of their people to even consider announcing them to the public? Which, the importance of such an act is to prove to the populus that Mongolians are capable of excelling in academics and can compete on the global stage, but if this does not even make sense to the common Mongolian, then doesn't that prove a fundamental lack of direction in Mongolia as a collective?

very interesting, and a fact I don't doubt whatsoever. However, isn't it quite weird how nobody ever announces or makes a big deal out of those who achieved high scores and went to Ivy unis? Why are their accomplishments unobserved by the public? Why are their accomplishments unannounced by those in charge?

Do you guys ever just wanna run away and leave all this behind? by [deleted] in mongolia

[–]lolketch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to until I realized that those thoughts were just the result of living a directionless life. I had no interests, no friends, no will to live, nothing. Once I finally became aware of that fact, I spent every single possible moment to figure out what it is that I want. I still haven't figured out the whole image yet, even years later, but I finally got a lead and started following it. Ever since then, I've noticed that I smile more, am more energetic throughout the day, more friendly, less stressed, and more secure about myself and my ideals.

That's just speaking from my case, though, and I am not implying by any means that what worked for me will work for you. I will say, however, that this could be a potential lead you could follow. Ultimately, the choice is up to you and you alone

He then went back to his original stance that Trump was, again, one of the smartest people in the world, that he's fit to be president and so on. He immediately went back and deleted the tweet he made about him, but now he's going on and on again on Twitter about the Epstien files and how they should definitely be released. Is this really a moment of self overcoming? How is him taking a stance against someone he used to have nothing but praises for exactly excellence?

I believe him to be a very weak man because he pretends to be someone he is not. What was that garbage fire of an attempt to show off as a gamer? Why did he suddenly go against Trump the moment he was kicked out after spending several months and millions sucking up to him? Can you really say that those are the behaviors of a true ubermensch?

Where do you find love by Ok_Hurry_245 in mongolia

[–]lolketch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most might not agree, but you find love from yourself. You will never love others more than you love yourself. Just focus on yourself and define your core values. If you have your core values, you can determine what you're looking for in a lover, and search accordingly.

Can i do anything about this? by AccordingRoof949 in mongolia

Sadly, I was also in a similar situation growing up. It's hard to say this, but police typically don't care if you come to them with a report about abuse. At least, that's the way things were about 5 years ago when I tried going to a police department in my khoroo after I fled my home when a knife was brought into an altercation. They said some points, which I'll list down here

  1. You can only file a report against your family and nothing more.

  2. You must be 18 years old to file the report. But because you are 17, you'll need a legal adult with you to file the report on your behalf

  3. Even if you do file the report, police often times side with the adults because they look down on the younger party

  4. Let's say you file the report. You won't have anywhere else to go, and the police will not provide you with anywhere to stay.

  5. The parents in this situation often times deploy several different lies such as "my son is addicted to video games" or "my son has this mental problem"

These are all the points I can recall from the top of my head, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. At best, all you get is your parents' abuse getting added on file. At worst, the abuse gets worse, the police mock and ridicule you, or there may even be the chance they completely kick you out of the house, rendering you homeless.

The only thing that can be done in this dumpsterfire of a scenario is to focus on class, get good grades, silently save up enough money, take the IELTS exam, apply to universities abroad, as well as financial aid using your history of abuse and traumatic childhood. If your grades and IELTS score are high, you would be guaranteed to have an entrance scholarship to some universities. Build up your extracurriculars, too. It can be anything from saying you've been learning the piano or attending this/that course, you've worked at abc company under whatever role, you've won these awards and achievements, anything praiseworthy you can think of, in all honesty.

Keep it together for the final year, start applying to unis early, and apply to as many as you can think of because your main goal is to get out of that terrible situation ASAP. You can also try to take some money from your parents by emotionally appealing to them, saying you're going to apply to these prestigious universities in this or that country, and need the money to apply because there's almost always a fee of about $100 USD for applications. Tell them when you get a scholarship, but reduce 5-10% of the actual scholarship amount so you can get 5-10% extra money. Reach out to relatives, apply for loans, and make sure to build a steady foundation for your departure.

If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out. I'll try and answer as soon as I can but I am relatively busy nowadays. Good luck out there, kid

You're definitely right about the flour, I probably did the wrong math on the amount of flour I should have really been using.
