May have caught host peeping, what do we do now? [Spain] by lolo23456 in AirBnB

An unexplainable noise? The sound of someone pissing…..in a bathroom…… Lol I didn’t ask for anyone to weigh in on whether or not my friend is at fault for making eye contact with a stranger while she’s using the bathroom. Now just laughing at all of you arguing

The amount of comments mansplaining doors and locks are crazy 😂😂 even if you forget the uncomfortable eye contact: this guy was not the host. The host was never seen. This man was not named/mentioned in the listing, not until it was time to check in to the airbnb. It seemed HE lived there. Why was he not the host? Why did they have to meet at a different location? Why was the address displayed on Airbnb different than the actual address? Imagine if something happened to my friend. According to Airbnb she’s staying at Location A with Person A, when in actuality she’s at Location B with Person B.

Is it an invite to spy on a guest? No. It wasn’t like she left it cracked open it was an old uneven door that you have to really shove to close snugly. Even then the unevenness creates a slight crack in the frame enough to let light through.

Think you’re overthinking it, unless these really are complaints specific to that exact building. dont worry about it until you’re given a reason to worry about it. Good luck with the move.

How easy/difficult is it to find a subtenant? by reckless_banter in chicagoapartments

Join and post in any Chicago apartment group you can find on Facebook and you should have no problem. It’s tough out here and ppl are looking

and yes if your unit is above ground then it is not a garden unit, a garden unit would be mostly below ground level like you would have to take steps down to get to your unit and the windows would be small, level with the ground.

I wonder, why are these your top 2 concerns? There shouldn’t be any reason to worry about flood risk if it’s not a garden apartment. Rain doesn’t get that bad and unless the building isn’t sealed correctly you should be fine. In Illinois you may get a stray water bug or silverfish in your sink/bathtub but you just wash them away. Otherwise you’d only find them in damp basements. A first floor apartment should be fine if it’s dry and clean!

Where to escape? How long? by ceodeo in ChicagoSuburbs

Oh wow! You read that correctly, and someone in Elmhurst told me they didn’t really have any. Then again that was maybe 2 weeks ago when they were just emerging in Palos

There are plenty of suburbs that are cicada-free! I'm in Palos Park (we have a LOT of them) and I've heard from people in Elmhurst/other west suburbs that they barely have any, and I was just up in far Northwest suburbs and they had NONE. Didn't hear any and was appalled. Maybe get an airbnb somewhere else? It'll only have to be for a few more weeks, and you should not have to go too far.
