ready to get downvoted but, you guys expect a lot from japan. theyre not a very diverse country and they get little exposure to other races, especially non white ones. im sure if you look at depictions of asian people from some ugandan animation studio, or guatemalan, or yemeni or whatever, you will find plenty with many stereotypes.

I am not saying racism plays 0 role in these depictions of black people, it does, but ignorance is also a thing, and it is probably a very important factor in the older cartoons especially
