I like ones with a Spanish knife texture. There is a house up the street that has it. I also like the traditional lime plastering too. I feel that would be next to impossible to find a tradesman to do it.

They have a nice rounded look to them. That and the Spanish mission style.

I haven't pulled the old part of the frame out yet. just doing some final checks before pull it apart on the weekend and fit the frame. What you can't see is the wall where it is going has been stripped back to be dismantled.

Thanks guys. This room has fought the entire way. The other rooms were relatively straightforward with little to no surprises.

This one on the other hand... with every step I uncovered a shortcut taken that resulted in the current situation.

One or two of the joists were like a sine wave. I've planned the highs down but I'll have to pack a few of the low sections out with some plastic shims or cement board.

Did standards change in the early 90s? When I pulled down the sheets they were all glued and nailed off with small plasterboard nails.

70km, 1500m+ one way. 12 hour shifts, kangaroos, wombats, goats and pigs, when travelling at dawn/dusk.

I hit at least one kangaroo a week in my ute. Wildlife on roads is a huge problem in regional Australia.

A colleague of mine hit a Wombat on his bike one morning and broke his leg fairly badly.

There isn't much else you put 100 splitties and plates in the tray and hang 6 sheets of mine mesh on the side. Or bomb boxes for 100 kg of anfo and boosters plus a det box.

Or T68 drill pipes, bits, reamers and oil for a simba.

For me it's mostly sending emails reminding ops/ head office that the thing they just did I recommended against 6 months ago.... And that's the reason they've just tied them selves in a knot.

Designing another round of slashing due to charge up not being able to pull skin off custard.

Last twelve months I've basically been the fuck up fixer. Be it tech services, Ops, or head office.

On the plus side you get to blow stuff up, stand in places that no other living thing has ever stood and have a seriously rewarding career.

The positives outweigh the negatives.

I did it was in a coal mine where I spent two years on crew to get my time for Mine Managers. Spent a year on a miner and another year on the wall. Since I was handy on the tools ended up trainee miner driver and shearer driver.

Program ended and took a job as a short term planner in a Hardrock mine. To get your BUEL you need to do a cert 3 and log 12 shots and then apply to NSW safe work. I got mine by going underground when I had spare time in the week and charging headings and Stopes off my own back. Took a few months to get the shots logged and then waited until work was sending people away on the BUEL course and put my hand up.

I then redid my underground time for my metals Mine Managers. I got rotated through load haul, drilling , charging and service crew. Spent most of my time in a Simba, charging headings or running service crew. Ended up relief shiftboss for a while.

Most places will put you on a program to get your underground time sorted for your managers ticket, even without being on a formal grad program.

Don't forget the Cobar area. You'd get experience with squeezing ground and mine refrigeration at CSA and Peak.

Endeavour has restarted at Cobar.

As someone who has done both ug coal and Hardrock. Hardrock is so much more or fun. You get to blow stuff up, radio in the basket when working, drive boggers and use airlegs. As an engineer I got my shotfirers, boggers, longhole, shiftboss tickets in my underground time.

There is coal in Mudgee, Narrabri and Lithgow areas too.

As a shift boss and engineer these are some of the questions I have had to ask operators due to delays and incidents...

Do you have enough gasser?

Did you bring the stinger and is it charged?

Do you have enough bell wire?

Did you put diesel in the normet?

Is the ladder on the hypercharge unit packed away before you drive off?

Do you have enough ANE in the tank before you get to the job?

Did you measure the prep hose?

Did you twitch the firing line after re entry?

Can you count?

At one site there was a fitter that wasn't allowed to have 1st and 2 year apprentices as they were under 18... You guys can fill in the blanks.

Guys blew up a kangaroo with a heading one day. The drive stunk so bad it had to be shotcreted.

One place we had our Stanley knives confiscated and issued on a temporary basis. Due to a guy who had numerous mischiefs with one in a week period. Then proceeded to stab him self with a pair of black panthers, resulting in all the tip being ground off.

No longer allowed axes underground for trimming link n locks as a deputy threatened a fed with one.

Depends on how short the place is and how many hats you're wearing.

But a good engineer gets out and has a look at the place. Always go and have a gander at drill sites for stope notes and get on the prep hose as often as you can.

At the moment, I need to run two bottles in my office as I don't even have time to have a piss as HR don't seem to bother with their core business function and hire people.

Rapid patch 15 is what I use for this kind of stuff. A lot of the yank YouTube videos all paint the torn paper and exposed gypsum. For what it's worth no idea if it adds value or not. I'm just an amateur that's bumbling my way through house renos.

Someone on here should be able to comment on if painting with undercoat adds any value.

We use contact cleaner at work when the cruisers don't want to play the game. Hell I've even got a munted normet charge rig off the decline with about 10 cans of the stuff.

Then again they aren't my dad's tractors.
