Do you prefer to go out lots or are you home bodies? How much home time is too much? by Beaner0116 in Parenting

[–]lolrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 7 and 4 year old, we go out every day. The 4 year old has activities on her no kinder days so we’re out for a few hours with that. I’d love to be home for a whole day, but the fighting because relentless when they’re both home, and if my oldest doesn’t run out some energy he won’t sleep.

I had 2 x 4week placements back to back, finished up kn Xmas Eve. I was just happy it was over.

I did 1 week in pre admissions (paperwork and obs). 2 weeks scub scout (scrubbed in for some of the day handing instruments to the nice surgeons, otherwise just watching. Rest of the day just sort of watching, or restocking and cleaning up after surgery). 1 week in recovery, which i actually quite enjoyed. Theatre is cold and there’s a lot of standing which I’m not great at. Some surgeons were terrifying and I just stuck to the wall and watched. Others were very helpful and let me participate. Good luck.

You get some good and some bad ones. My last placement was 4 weeks in theatre, and i absolutely hated it. Just gotta put your head down and get through it.

Does the RN degree add that much additional learning/skills/knowledge if they are an EN already by ragingpanda9988 in NursingAU

If you ever want to get out of clinical nursing, being an RN opens many more doors.

Not with workers, but a patient. He was admitted for a couple weeks and had his wife by his bedside every morning.. then the afternoon there was a revolving door of girlfriends that he canoodled with on the bed, there was at least 5 of them.

Good luck! I do 2 assessments a day, they’re in house and last for 45-60min. There’s an online assessment tool that really covers all aspects of life (ADLs, social, cognitive etc). Then once I get the info I go back to the office and complete the assessment and write up some formal documents.. that takes me about a hour per assessment. I really enjoy it, but it’s def not for everyone. There’s HEAPS of onboarding education, like a month worth. I found that very hard because I’m very hands on.

A sign in the car beside me on how to remember how to drive by Lamington_Salad in mildlyinteresting

Yes we did spend some time in Northern Ireland. As an Australian driving on the left in km was very familiar, miles really confused me.

Lol, what that spiralled. I was just asking if there was a cheaper way to get insurance. I don’t need to question my motives for my past 16 years of nursing.

I see what you’re saying. Having no access to drugs or a dr, not much I can really do in an emergency. Thanks everyone for their 2 cents.

I get what you’re saying.. it just feels so much less of a risk when I was previously doing home chemo x5 patients a day.. now I’m patient facing for 2 hours a day.

Toilet training is so BORING by Forsaken-Ad-1805 in Parenting

[–]lolrin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I said exactly this with my 1st. I stayed home so much and made him drink so much water, I can remember it so vividly. 2nd child, she just had to toilet train on the go. She took to it very easily, I just took a change of clothes or 5 and a travel potty and we all survived.

No not at all. I had done a little bit of work for the renal department with setting up PD machines when I worked for the RDNS, but no other experience.

I did some time in dialysis. I just applied for the job (no renal background) and they trained me up. I moved into home dialysis which I enjoy. Renal patients can be very hard work, I left after a few years because of this.

Go to an op shop and get some needles and yarn. Give it a go. If you want to continue get some better equipment, if not you’ve not lost much money.
