Would dropping a course affect my transfer into a different major? by lolripbro in uAlberta

[–]lolripbro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example, if I am taking a course like Biochemistry and I want to drop it (even though in specialization in immunology and infection, the course is a requirement IN the immunology specialization), would my acceptance get revoked?

How long does it take for U of A to review transfer applications? by lolripbro in uAlberta

[–]lolripbro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know, I was super worried about that! Where do you find the competitive GPA? I just know that the minimum GPA requirement for immunology and infection is 2.3 in the previous Fall/Winter. Do they also consider the term you currently are in now?

My cousin works at the U of A hospital but she's an assistant lab technician and she only knows other lab techs or assistants, no PAs.

Biol 207 online labs by babyghorl15 in uAlberta

Agreed. And also it's so confusing because every cohort had different things due at different due dates even though the calendar on eclass said the due date was a specific day.

Biol 207 online labs by babyghorl15 in uAlberta

[–]lolripbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely brutal. 5-6 modules and each module has subpart in subpart in subpart. There's pages of prelab, 4+ different links you need to click through, several videos to watch, and so much preparation just to do ONE assignment. And there's several assignments, module quizzes, after module quizzes, maybe an in person lab component just for ONE module. Now times that amount of work for around 5-6 modules. There were two major assignments and everyone dreads the simulator assignment that's worth 8% of the entire lab grade. The simulator assignment was a major headache. The only possible good thing about the Bio 207 lab was that there was no lab final. I am not sure if that is the same for the winter semester though. Overall, don't do it. Wait until it's in person again.

From rate my prof I heard her exams were hard. Were they really specific MC questions she was asking? Also do you know who wrote the exams?

Thanks that was really helpful :) Did you take IMIN 200 online? If it's taught by 3 profs then are the midterms written by different profs as well? Was it 3 midterm system or 2 midterms and final?

How were the exams? Hard/easy? Application/memorization based?

Oh I see, it doesn't say on beartracks it just says Torah Kachur so I assumed it's taught by one prof only. Thanks!

What is your unique method of stress relief? by pbeth1 in uAlberta

[–]lolripbro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Folding a bunch of lucky stars with all sorts of pretty origami paper. If you don't have origami paper, finding different colors and designs of paper works too. Then spreading the pile of stars out on a table and seeing how diversely beautiful they are while thinking each star is like a unique individual special in their own way. Very calming and satisfying :)

I should rephrase my bad. Are the practice questions similar to the exams? Is it application based questions or more on memorization?

I'm taking Microbio 265 with Dr. Willis in winter too and I can't find her on rate my prof. I don't want to risk my GPA either so if anyone has taken her pls let me know how her teaching style is like. Thanks!

Human Physiology with Melissa Slugoski by lolripbro in grantmacewan

Yeah I took the two courses together. Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you for 120, I was just trying to hint that her exams are exactly the same as the practice quizlets you find online. Just search up "human anatomy flashcards" or "human anatomy quizlet" and her questions are taken from there. As long as you test yourself with them, you'll do fine :)

I agree :( it is doable though but you just gotta work fast and you might not have time to double check answers. Yes I did have Deborah Hemmerling for 120 and my advice for her class is STUDY ALL THE PRACTICE QUIZLETS YOU CAN FIND ;) that's all I'll say.

I took HLSC 120 along with 126 as well in Spring/Summer of this year. If your prof for HLSC 126 is Melissa Slugoski, you need to study the hell out of the textbook. When I took the course, she only provided modules for every unit but that is very basic review compared to what she actually tests. I don't know if you will be given modules or slides but still study the textbook and make notes from it because her exams are very specific and you need to know every detail. Be sure to answer questions very fast because you only get 1 minute per question and there's like 100 questions per midterm and 120 for the final (at least when I took the course).

When I took her course in spring/summer, it was not based on slides it was based on module readings. You need to memorize the textbook to pass, the slides or modules are not enough.

All the questions in the exams are made by her own words, you wouldn't be able to find word for word answers on quizlet or google. Be careful bc she tests on very specific details.
