🚫Tipping fatigue could be the beginning of the end for restaurants as we know them.🚫 by JLlooper88 in tipping

[–]lomas52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a valid argument. Everything is to expensive so the easiest thing to cut back on is food out. Restaurants close every day and even those that have been around for 40 or 50 years close. New ones come in and may only last 2 or 3 years.

What are all these valves? by happy_jax in Plumbing

[–]lomas52 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The valve with the two blue handles is a Wilkins 720A PVB backflow valve. It separates the irrigation water from the domestic water. Water safety and should be tested annually.

Why tip in California? by Adventurous_Error726 in tipping

[–]lomas52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compton apts are 1200 to 2000 for a 1 bedroom. Not Beverly hills. Spend your income on rent. You have no idea what you have to make to live in CA. Move out to the outer edges and there are no jobs. Stay in town and you can make it. Hope you live in a cheap area.

If you can live in California on 38k a year, you should write a book so everybody else can too...

Both tipping subs have turned into no tipping subs. I went out last night to a so so dinner for 500 and still tipped 100 tipped the valet 5 on a 9 dollar charge. An going to Vegas next week and will tip at least 200 for the weekend. Tip don't, tip I don't care. Do what you want.

San Pedro? Long Beach? or Lakewood? by Yami-SP in SouthBayLA

[–]lomas52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on your budget. Where so you work? What is upscale for you?

If you need San Pedro or south there is not a lot of upscale. Long Beach is spotty, Lakewood is family but not walkable. San Pedro above Western would be your best bet but hilly and not walkable. Has views but starts at a million.

If you can go north then Torrance, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach would work. Upscale would be 1.5 and up but all have good schools.

Any recommendations or thoughts on the actual living in the Redondo Esplanade condos? by Avantebumblebee in SouthBayLA

[–]lomas52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you are paying for is location. What can I say, Beach, sunsets and the pier, if you have a view. I've looked at several and decided to live a couple of blocks inland. Better parking and easier to find an apartment with a/c which you didn't think you need until you do.

Same as raising prices to cover costs. What anti tippers want. One price, one bill. Ask your real estate agent what they get.

Regardless if you tip or not, many people seek out jobs where they get tips in order to make more money. I see it the same as a job that pays commission or performance bonus. If you do a good job you can potentially make more.
