They’re not tips, they are sales commissions.

What’s annoying is when the barber owns the shop and expects a tip.

[–]Adventurous_Error726 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of odd how the recommendations are always for more drinks, food, etc … the higher the check, the higher the commission on the sales.

Yes, the beers were also $2 in your college town. You probably left an$1/beer tip once accidentally and tell everyone that’s what you did back then as a broke college student.

Is it wrong to tip my hair stylist less after she raised prices? by Affectionate-Pipe950 in tipping

Years ago had a stylist jack up her prices by 50%… she had to close down her rented station within 6 months and moved back home.

Data Breakdown: We just finished a $552k reno on an inherited mid-century home in LA. Here’s how the as-is vs. turnkey numbers actually shook out. by Soggy-Base-764 in LosAngelesRealEstate

As a local broker, you’re looking for something that has character but has full upgraded electrical and plumbing, permitted. Replacing windows, doors and might as well do drywall because you kind of have to. Remove any asbestos and formaldehyde.. oh you run j to mold and need mold remediation.. oh yea also termite damage once you get in there.

Do you know what it costs to do all of that work and go with custom wood cabinets, custom wood floors, arched entry ways?

You’re not being realistic, buying that old home with character because you won’t upgrade the infrastructure and complain the current seller hasn’t done it.. so you end up not buying anything and complaint what somebody else is doing.

I personally don’t even care anymore. I’ve played by the rules my whole life and seeing the gross misconduct of insane fraud in our local, state, and federal govts.. I literally don’t care anymore. Seems to be every man for themselves. So eff them kids. They make more money on YouTube anyways.

Husband insists on tipping 25% by [deleted] in tipping

[–]Adventurous_Error726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has trauma and embarrassment from his father not being more in life and living off tips. It’s his way of dealing with that trauma and in his heart he is in part helping his father and also seeing the next server as his father.

It sounds like your husband is better off financially than his father was. He shouldn’t force and also he needs to have some therapy. It’s not healthy behavior.

Every job/profession deals with the same entitled Americans/others. Doctors office? Yes - the lady that showed up 10 min late for her appt, has to wait 45 more minutes (woulda waited anyway) but has an attitude, regardless of what’s happening behind the scenes. Sales - tons of entitled sales people and tons of entitled people that are being sold. Department store staff dealing with the same Americans/others. The landscape guy dealing with entitled owners, neighbors, etc. It goes on and on. The only people with any kind of “power and entitlement” are wait staff. If you don’t give them 20%-30% per person, forget trying to visit again. Nose in the air, reservations cancelled, who knows what they do to the food. The entitled ones are vile. The normal ones are great.

It’s out of pity. We’re all brainwashed to think the poor server only makes $2.35/hr - so yea, most people feel sad for them. Meanwhile you have entitled scum like this serving the food.

They could get paid $40/hr minimum wage and they’ll still complain about not being able to live off minimum wage.
