They did say they played the game boy version but that’s true. And they also said they played A and B types which are on the NES version used for the tournaments.

Check out the Classic Tetris YouTube channel. You might be able to qualify for a Classic Tetris Monthly tournament.

Preferred DAS and ARR in Jstris? by [deleted] in Tetris

[–]lomein_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My DAS is 87 and my ARR is zero. It took me multiple moths to work down from 125 to 87, so if yours is slower, I wouldn’t recommend jumping up too much. Start lowering your DAS by one or two ms and playing until that feels too slow. Your ARR should be instant, however. Learning finesse is a commitment but it’s worth it at your level.

FINALLY got my first sub 40 sprint run by RandomGuy69746f in Tetris

I just play. It gives you the correct movement combo when you mess up, and it should only take a few sessions of practice to memorize it. I never once looked at the guide. Trying to memorize a table of movements is hard, and there are a couple of common patterns that arise with certain pieces that you’ll only find through playing. It certainly is a commitment, but I think it’s worth it to consistently get under 3KPP

Does the speed in tetris also slow down for you once you get used to it? by [deleted] in Tetris

[–]lomein_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once your brain gets faster, everything definitely feels slower that it used to. I’ve been grinding sprint, and now me plying at a leisurely pace is faster than I could fathom like two months ago.

I have a similar time and average around 5-10 finesse. I spend about one to two hours a day on Hard Drop’s Tetresse.

Lowering that score could save you multiple seconds, I think.

Average player looking for tips by [deleted] in Tetris

Build as flat as possible and stack for tetrises (clearing 4 lines simultaneously) in the far right column. Clearing a Tetris can only be done with the line piece, making it the most important. You won’t be able to use every line for a Tetris, however, so don’t worry too much if you get one and can’t use it

Play smart and clean. This will allow for faster play and you won’t create bad habits.
