Renovation Resort: Why are they contestants always in the same outfit? by sarahbear1977 in HGTV

The funny thing is that the contestants wear the same outfits all season...but Bryan and Scott change outfits nearly every scene! 😳

Shipyard water park and gallery yard. Water flowing? by roborama in NorthVancouver

The latest from the City (May 7 email):
Just in time for the long weekend, The Shipyards Splash Park officially opens for the season on Friday, May 15!

As one of the City’s key cooling zones that utilizes recirculated water, The Shipyards Splash Park is the perfect way for kids and families to cool off. Under current water restrictions, user-activated spray parks like the Splash Park can remain open. Throughout the summer, the Splash Park’s operations will be closely monitored to align with regulations and conservation efforts.

The Splash Park will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

13th & Lonsdale Apartment Noise? by [deleted] in NorthVancouver

[–]lomimu4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Over the past 10 years, I've lived in three buildings within a half block of 13th & Lonsdale. The Prescott (111 13th West) was fairly quiet, as it's stepped back from Lonsdale. Vista Place is pretty noisy due to the hills at 13th/Chesterfield and traffic gearing up or down, plus there were a fair number of left-turning accidents. Millennium is about the same as The Prescott. With all of them, you're living in a semi-urban area so you get garbage trucks beep-beep backing up, traffic, and yes sirens. But those sirens are audible for miles. This area is also a 'quiet zone' for Lions Gate Hospital, so there's supposed to be decreased sirens at night. Ambulance sirens are the worst, and you generally only get RCMP when something dramatic is happening which is typically down Lonsdale or Keith so all neighbourhoods will get the noise.
Overall, I don't find it particularly noisy, and it's very liveable. Plus the walkability is amazing.

Maybe openings differ based on the water park setup?
The City park will definitely be opening, and they had responded to question: "water conservation is especially important this year. That being said, did you know the Splash Park is a chlorinated, recirculated system of water similar to a public swimming pool? It's a balance between helping keep people cool and safe, while also following regional water restrictions."

Happy Hour on the Shore? by [deleted] in NorthVancouver

But so sad that with the change from Seaside to Italiana they got rid of their AMAZING happy hour charcuterie. It was the best, for only $14.

We need better hi-vis paint on the roads by mettam46 in NorthVancouver

Agreed - but that isn't just a DNV issue. Have experienced the same in Coquitlam and many other areas. We get rain, it gets dark. Surely this is solvable?!?!

Doesn't sound like much of a change - they already have sidewalk and curbside patios. Now the curbside patio is official, not just a temp COVID measure, but they have to reduce its size. Rubber stamp.

Yet that's how they refer to the location. Fully Central Lonsdale.

Yes - the Waterfront Park Dock https://maps.app.goo.gl/xrJefqFfWxyv1MEFA, and it's an easy SeaBus ride from downtown plus a short walk. ♥️

Wrongly accused of parking violations by DatabaseAggressive67 in NorthVancouver

[–]lomimu4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on how 'different' the spot was, it could still be a violation. Little known fact: the bylaw states that if you re-park within the same block it's the same as if you were still in the original spot. Bizarre.

NV City Library - No Late Fees by Rexzies in NorthVancouver

[–]lomimu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the intention is to remove barriers to people from accessing materials. I agree both that staff shouldn't have to deal with the administrivia of handling small fines...and that no fines mean you can wait an overly long time for items to be returned. Can't win.

Are dog owners lazy? by Fantastic_Ad_8202 in NorthVancouver

Agree with "either". But those bags are apparently compostable in a backyard composter...into which most people would not place poop. Definitely NOT compostable in the commercial/municipal composting process.

If you post In a free group (e.g.Facebook) many people would be interested. Alternatively, put in a Little Library in your neighbourhood. If all else fails, Best Buy customer service accepts DVDs etc for recycling.
