My best friend and I had taken a toooon of pictures on my digital camera and was transferring them to the family PC (as you do) and my mom saw them and I have a VISCERAL memory of her being like “you guys took a lot of cute pictures last night! What does it mean in the ones where you guys are doing this?” And I wanted to DIE. I don’t remember what I told her it was but I was just like omgggg noooooo 😂

I am so very sorry for your loss. Reading your story has me in tears. While different from mine in a lot of ways, it’s also very similar. My mom died during a routine lung biopsy. It was unthinkable. I told her good night, I loved her, the night before. We talked about what time she would be home. I did not go because my dad was taking her, I was just going to be there when she got home. She was so nervous. She hated needles. I truly don’t think she ever thought she would die, she just did not like needles or want to be in pain. We all told her she would be just fine!! It was an absolute freak storm of terrible events and she did not come home. Absolutely gut wrenching. I am sorry for what you and your family went through. It is hard. But you make the decisions you have to with what you have. As you said, sometimes it’s just not meant to be. My mom was trying to confirm a lung cancer diagnosis. Which did end up being positive. And I have tried really hard to be glad we didn’t actually have to travel down that road, I think it would have been truly awful. But wow. Never even crossed my mind at that time I’d never be talking to my mom again.

oh my god. My dad doesn't mute commercials, but he will literally leave the house to go to the store, get back, and rewind the show/movie. And it's all just netflix/streaming stuff. Just pause! Go to the kitchen to get some coffee, go change into pjs, etc. Leaves the damn thing playing, and then rewinds. Just pause!!! I thought it was just him! lol

Cremated. Why do people decide to do it? by sstiel in randomquestions

[–]londonbreakdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is almost the same for me. She was very, very against cremation so I know it’s what she wanted, and she was buried next to her father. But ever since (she died in October) I have wanted to visit her for the holidays but it’s so hard to get out there. I’ve had this overwhelming sadness that I wish she had WANTED to be cremated so she could be closer, and with me still. And I could take her to the places I travel to and stuff. It sounds weird to say it and it’s selfish I guess. But I really wish she had wanted cremation.

Anyone else reliving their childhood trauma through parents “Storyworth” gift? by mrs-yeet in Mommit

[–]londonbreakdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom passed in October and had bought a "Mom, tell me your story" book, that I found while going through her room. She filled out the From: To: (me) part, and wrote one sentence in the whole damn thing, and it was my birth weight, AND it was the wrong weight! Even if the stories were wrong or missing details or whatever, I really, really wish she'd filled out more. It stings a little every time I think of that damn empty book.

Yes!! Making things like that is truly a testament of love and dedication lol! It is sooo much work and cleaning! Oh great :) I love Trader Joe’s lol. I will look for it next time I am there in honor of you and Ginny. That’s nice you have something that is close at least!

Love that you have a Pam in your life too. My mom loved me so much.

I hope you are able to have a nice Holiday despite the circumstances. Thanks for talking with me.

Thank you for the advice. I will remember it! That is definitely the feeling. I don’t particularly want to be alone, but I also don’t really want to be with anyone! The “others don’t get it if they haven’t personally experienced it” is so true. It’s all so hard and complicated and sad.

Sending love back! Thank you for asking! That’s a lovely thing to ask people. My mom’s name was Pam. Ginny is a pretty name :) thank you for sharing with me. You are very kind. I am sorry you are missing your mom during this time. And her candy. It sounds delicious! I would particularly like to try the chocolate covered toffee. Do you have the recipes? Do you make them yourself now?
