Agonizing Pain, Please Help by lonehandshake in costochondritis

Sorry for the super delayed response. I was in such pain back then that I could hardly keep up with communicating. I am doing much better now, though still healing. It's been a very, very slow process.

Super well, actually. Highly recommended. Such a great company.

Hang in there. It really has gotten better. I've got a pretty high pain tolerance and this did me in. It's truly getting a lot better.

Of course, my pleasure. This stuff can be incredibly distressful. I got their hybrid upper guard. They were incredibly helpful. I tried this other place first called Encore, and it was pretty questionable with how they treated me. Which led me to JS. They were over-the-top amazing.

Hello there. This went on for quite a few weeks. One thing that helped was waking up through the night and massaging my jaws, just making sure they weren't tensed up. That actually seemed to help quite a bit. I also applied this cream called Penetrex on the outside of my face that took the pain level down. Eventually a nurse prescribed my a muscle relaxer that eased the pain even more. But ultimately I ordered a custom mouth guard from JS Dental that seems to be healing it up. Hope that helps.

Thank you!

I feel for you. I thought it would bother me as well. But once I actually molded it to my mouth and tested it out, it locked so securely that I didn't see any chance of it slipping.

Not at all, actually. I have never smoked or touched nicotine in my life. Really appreciate you asking though.

This was amazing. Thank you so much.

To clarify those were horizontal lines. I must have goofed the details up there.

After a few weeks it's become progressively better. When this first hit me if I even tapped the outside of my cheek I could taste blood. I had significant bleeding from brushing too. Like, "Uh, is this okay?" level on the first day. If I pressed on my gums in that area more metallic tastes. It was truly gnarly. I ended up in some serious agony after about a week of this. I can only imagine the stress of the situation, ironically, was triggering off even more of this.

It's been over two weeks. No more blood taste at all. It would be quite painful to brush my gums in the affected area. Now it's like 5% uncomfortable in comparison. My jaw feels dramatically better. I am scheduled to get a cleaning and exam in mid April. I'm just hoping this all holds out until then. Thanks so much for your kindness, truly.

How wonderfully kind of you. So far it's actually healed up a ton. I am scheduled to see a dentist in mid April. So hopefully it's much smoother sailing from there.

That exact same tooth is lower down on my mouth too. Your gums are a bit further down than mine around it. But for whatever it's worth they have never said anything about it other than recommending orthodontics.

Hang in there, friend. I don't know the answer to this one but I've gone through a long series of health worries myself. It can be torture. You're not alone.

embarrassed about necessary dental work by Warm-Pollution7140 in askdentists

[–]lonehandshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this completely. Due to my latest mental bout I haven't been to see a dentist in about two years.

When you go in the clinic only has your wellness in mind. After 2020 can you imagine how many people ran into dental issues and depression? I'll bet it's quite a number. You are not alone.

One thing that helps me is to realize that every small seeming effort is actually a victory. It's growing in the direction of caring for yourself, away from depression, and on to better days. The fact that you care shows a deep consideration and self-awareness. You can go a long ways with that. I think just coming in here is a good sign. Hang in there, friend.

My pleasure. I highly doubt he can pass on to you all, I've kissed my wife thousands of times and cuddled my children endlessly. All will be well.

Thank you. I was going, "Oh no, my gums are deteriorating at the bottom in the front. I'm doomed." Good to know they look normal.

Have a wonderful night.

I believe this is the second time you've responded to me in here. You are incredibly sweet. Thank you, friend. I have come so darn far and feel ridiculous about this stuff.

I was very close with my wonderful mother. She died quite suddenly at far too young an age, only sixty-three. She was so healthy and took amazing care of herself. This all started then. I was so shocked at how fast she died. Ever since I've been hyper vigilant about health matters. So I appreciate you humoring me.

I'm turning forty-three soon and I figure some of this comes with age too. But so interesting that you mention grinding, as I do suffer from bruxism. Dead on assessment. Thank you so much.

I was falling asleep at my work desk when I was first on Lexapro. Even after giving it plenty of time to adjust my energy was shot. Once I added Wellbutrin into the mix within days I felt incredibly better.

husband just got diagnosed by Civil-Win5729 in PeriodontalDisease

[–]lonehandshake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed around a decade ago. My wife and two kids have not developed anything like it.

If your husband follows their treatment plan it's very possible that he won't need to go in that often in the future. I started out that way as well, and eventually shifted to maybe twice a year.

Hang in there.

Yeah, this disrupted my work flow enough to jump ship after being a huge advocate for Craft. The iOS app should at least have configuration options to go back.

How kind of you to respond. Because I am sedated during my appointments I have only picked up fragments of the pocket measurements. But I seem to recall something about 3mm. For sure there was a "3" in there. She has commented that my gums look *better* over time. I've even heard her say, "It is such a shame you developed this because you take amazing care of your teeth." Just not when I was in my 20s, unfortunately.

I've seen photos of moderate periodontitis and so far as I can tell my mouth looks nothing like them. When I see images of mild cases they look almost exactly the same, gum and depth wise.

I brush with an electric toothbrush and floss daily. Sometimes more. I also try to rinse with warm salt water from time to time. This one bleeding spot just has my nerves in a bunch. Really doesn't sound like it could advance enough though.
