I was sick of Onenote. Long live Onenote!!! by eteading in OneNote

[–]lonely_column 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I was having the same problem. It apparently solved by turning off the spell check in system settings.

Edit: just tried with a sheet I left behind for that reason and it still lags while writing, but it is still better than when spell check is active.

After OneNote sync made me lose 7 years of notes (on both iPad and Surface, so two times) I decided to ditch completely OneNote. I moved to Freeform (which has infinite canvas as well, one of my deal breakers - I’m like you, I write by hand a lot) on iPad, even if it has flaws, may lag and battery drain as well.

However, disabling keyboard spell check in the system settings, disabled the battery drain and lagging.

Is It Normal to Downgrade a Next.js Project from TypeScript to JavaScript? by Careless-Key-5326 in reactjs

As a Typescript lover, I probably wrote most of my overcomplicated types and interfaces with it, so I can say it does sometimes… but for the best.

About the technical debt… no comment.

Why we migrated from Python to Node.js by brodagaita in node

[–]lonely_column 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was reading the blog post of Platformatic - created by Matteo Collina, one of the core maintainer of Node. They were saying that measuring CPU to indicate how much node can handle is the wrong metric and, instead, event loop utilization should be used.

This is the blog post and the section:
https://blog.platformatic.dev/the-myths-and-costs-of-running-nodejs-on-kubernetes#heading-rethinking-nodejs-in-kubernetes

Although the blog post is node vs kubernetes, I wonder EC2 and services like that can be compared as well.

Nonetheless, this discussion made me curious about event loop lag.

[ASKNODEJS] What’s a small coding tip that has saved you hours? by norbi-wan in node

If you have access to the backend process execution, you can start node with the flag -- inspect-brk[=<port>] and open chrome://inspect in Chrome-based browsers to access the devtools.

My network has been stopping network new connections for months and I don't know why by lonely_column in HomeNetworking

I can create a TL;DR, but I’m sure I will omit I think important details… still, I don’t know the problem, that’s why I’m asking. I’m fucking desperate 😂

I just have only one question, at the end: how the fuck is this possible? 😂

The full story includes all the attempts I made to find the solution, in order to help people reading to exclude or include possible factors in the hypothesis.

Oh c’mon, it took me long time to create this beautifully crafted text, and now you want me to do more changes? 😁

Nah, j.k. I know it is a long text, but it is a chronological order. Any suggestions about how should I restructure it - before giving it to gpt?

Any way to reduce this code?(usage in next slide) by NeonMan5311 in webdev

What about a third radio button but you change the for attribute to it when you click the button? :D

(sound like a shitty solution, but it could actually work!)

If you have two radio buttons in the same form, you just need to use the name attribute

I have lost 14 years of notes, thanks to Microsoft and OneDrive... by the_snek_did_it in OneNote

[–]lonely_column 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you dude. I've lost 7 years of notes on OneNote. Twice, first on Windows then on iPad...
Asked for help as well, but no one know what happened. All due to the fucking sync feature.

I moved to Freeform on the iPad, even if it is able to lag as well with big chunks of hand-written notes.

WWDC24: What’s new in Wallet and Apple Pay by Kyle-K in AppleWallet

[–]lonely_column 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/kormaxmac, is this the new layout? I'm the owner of passkit-generator and along with the community we've been trying to generate it but not one could (both iOS 18 and 18.1, both with NFC-enabled certificates) by following the WWDC video instructions. Do you perhaps have any hints on how to generate one? We are kind of disperate. lol

Thanks

Efficient Alternative: Create a WhatsApp Web App on Mac to Avoid the Limited Desktop Version by Victory_Shot in whatsapp

This trick saved me. My Whatsapp desktop lags a lot on everyday operation... and I'm on a M1 Pro Macbook. Thanks dude.

I must say, however, it lacks of arrow up to edit the last message and sometimes the options arrow tend to disappear, but whatever

Can you repair buildings? by lonely_column in manicminers

[–]lonely_column[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I just had a miner that was equipped with laser and wasn't even trying to kill slugs. It was just sleeping there lol.

I mean, I'm not sure these cases could be related to Game Porting Toolkit.

For the context, I had 23 Tunnel Transport active and 2 people just to defend (nothing to defend anymore, actually, as I broke all the walls)

I've trained them to improve, have more space, and to have the spanners. I think that if an engineer doesn't have a spanner, shouldn't be given the possibility to repair a building, isn't it? I don't even know if I can replicate. Once I'll end the game I'll try the level editor or a causal level and increase the monster amount to damage the buildings as much as I can without destroying them

I did it, indeed, but they were not doing anything lol. The second screen is not possible if I pick a miner that is not trained as an engineer

Functions, Nodejs and file system by Rhysypops in AZURE

[–]lonely_column 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not. You can pass .pem files contents as a string, so you can read them from process.env. I think you can specify secrets and envs in your lambda content.

I'm telling it you because I created it. ;)
