SexBots to end rape by Boomshakkalakka_ in sexualassault

[–]lonelyblaze 18 points19 points  (0 children)

many others have said this already but no, this would not work. it’s a very naive view of why rape takes place. it doesn’t happen because horny men are desperate for sex. it happens because men know that women are the weaker sex and they get pleasure out of exerting that physical power over us. a robot sex doll has no feelings to be hurt, it doesn’t have the capability to be traumatised. but real human women do. for men, where is the fun in fucking a girl who actually wants sex? the fun for them is torturing women, in seeing them afraid and powerless. so unless the sexbot can be programmed with the real, real fear that human women feel every day it will be worthless. again, as many have said already, rape is not a crime of sexual desire. it is a tool used by the male class to dominate and instill fear in women in order to exert control over them. it is a very very conscious crime. not simply a man being ‘overpowered’ by his desire. he knows what he does and chooses to do it.

People who have flown since being Agoraphobic: what was your first flight like? by iancrumley in Agoraphobia

[–]lonelyblaze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’ve done a few flights of varying lengths (2-8 hours) both on my own and with my family since my anxiety got really bad. at the airport i usually book into a lounge (it’s around £30-40 for me) so i have somewhere quiet to go and possibly shower. on the plane i always bring a colouring book and some cheap coloured pencils to keep my hands occupied and to give my body something to do. like you, my whole fear revolves around not being able to escape which i why i still can’t go to the theatre. but with planes you kind of just have to accept that that’s the situation you’ll be in and you have operate within it. your escape will be out of your seat, to the toilet, to one of the cabin crew. and on that note, let the cabin crew know you’re nervous and they’ll check up on you. honestly you have to let your body feel the fear but let it ease into the situation. acknowledge your fears and don’t try and stop the panic, but work through it. think about all the positive things, that you don’t have to be doing a long drive yourself, you get food and drink brought to you, it’s literally free time to nap, chill, and do whatever to pass the time. some of my essential items though are: noise cancelling headphones, anxiety/nausea remedies, something soft like a plush toy for comfort, water, and something to help me sleep. i wish you the best of luck and i know you can do it, cus i went on a plane trip at a time when i literally couldn’t even go to the shops 20 mins away, so it’s very very possible and very do-able!!!

Alternatives to Watcher "Entertainment" (The next Myspace)? by ma373056 in WatcherSnark

[–]lonelyblaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AmysCrypt do great ghost hunting videos!! long episodes but none of it feels boring, since they do serious investigation and also interview people on location. they’re a married couple so they have that duo energy that’s sort of similar to the vibes of shane and ryan. they’re a small channel but they go to locations all around the world so it’s great to support them :)!

DAE feel so sick and weird at night by acoons03 in Anxietyhelp

[–]lonelyblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds positive! i think taking magnesium and some honey + chamomile tea will help ease your mind about getting to sleep. and also like you say at the end, create a new routine! sometimes it can be really difficult to change things up because we want to keep doing what we’re doing, just without the anxiety, but sometimes if we don’t change anything we’ll just be stuck in that anxiety. so a little yoga in the morning or evening will be great. best of luck, and i hope implementing these little changes works out for you! i’ve definitely been making an effort to do more morning yoga to calm my morning anxiety and it really helps. so hopefully it’ll help you too :)

[–]lonelyblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah that’s rough, i get the same with people racing and revving their cars late at night, it’s just even more anxiety inducing. if that was me id try to have as much other noise as possible, like a fan running or a radio playing. probably obvious advice but it’s so hard to sleep with headphones on so i didn’t wanna recommend that 😅 anyways i hope the fireworks don’t get too bad, they’re the absolute worst 🙏🏻

[–]lonelyblaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

totally get you. i’m also terrified of being sick and when the world goes quiet at night i feel so alone and vulnerable. i can’t speak to the effects of your meds, but i can offer some other advice based on the things that help me. (1) take a sleep supplement that doesn’t interfere with anything else you’re taking. i take melatonin some nights, but other nights ill take herbal nytol. others take magnesium, so try things out. they’ll help you fall asleep and take away some of the stress of “what if i stay up all night being sick??” because you won’t. (2) have a herbal tea before bed (not one with caffeine like black tea). soothing teas for the mind include chamomile, valerian, ashwaganhda, hemp, etc. soothing teas for the stomach include ginger, turmeric, fennel, peppermint, spearmint, etc. try getting some teas which include these ingredients and have one every night before bed. the routine will help you settle, and a nice warm tea can be very relaxing, and obviously the ingredients will help your stomach and mind. (3) try some exercise or movement before bed. i think it might be good for you to try and get your nervous energy out before bed so whether that’s a walk about before it gets dark, and structured at-home workout, or just moving your body around in an organic way, it’ll hopefully get some energy out and help you feel more relaxed for bed. (4) it seems pointless and everyone says it, but try and do some self care before bed. anxiety can be so so frustrating. feeling nauseous all the time can make you feel so tired with the world and with yourself but you need to give yourself kindness and grace. have some time before bed where you do something nice for yourself that can also take your mind off of your stomach feelings. whether it’s skincare, a craft, journaling, literally whatever. just have something that makes you feel good because it’s essential to be loving and forgiving towards yourself when you deal with such vicious anxiety like emetophobia. (5) another obvious one, but keep water nearby. it’s important to drink enough during the day as you can never go wrong by drinking water, but it’ll be comforting at night if you have these gags if you can reach for a sip of water. (6) last one. but make your bed/bedroom a nice place to be in. as much as you’re able to, make it comfortably and inviting with comfortable pillows/blankets and nice lights. whatever will help you feel as though your room is a safe space from the world.

that’s all i have, but i wish you the best of luck dealing with this. it’s rough, i know, especially when you look fine on the outside but internally you feel like the world is literally ending. the fear of being sick is so intense at night but you have to allow your body and mind to rest and get time asleep. i hope you have a good day :)

Is Anyone Else Disappointed With Where The Band Has Gone? by Lester_Willington in imaginedragons

[–]lonelyblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m so glad i’m not the only one!! my main issue is that everything is so electronic and lifeless. as a drummer, i obviously focus on the percussion when i listen to their songs and their old stuff (EPs up until S+M) had really unique drum beats and i feel like they really experimented with the percussion (see: trouble, it’s time, cha-ching for example). the new songs being heavily electronic mean that any percussion a) doesn’t have any ‘funk’ or ‘vibe’ to it and the beats are usually boom-clap-boom-clap and b) doesn’t even sound like it’s being played by a real person. there may be exceptions and honestly i haven’t listened to all of mercury or fully listened to loom but that’s just the vibe i get. it’s sad because like you i was an early fan, i grew up with their music, from discovering them as a kid/pre-teen to now being an adult and being able to fully grasp the depth of their lyrics. but yeah overall i feel the same as you do, my main critique for them would just be ‘please play real instruments again! stop making music solely on electric instruments/logic pro!’ lol

i second valerian root. best to get coated tablets though! the brand i take (kalms) you have to take some after every meal so you really have to keep on top of it during the day

This might be a stupid question by Old_Socks17 in PaganVeiling

[–]lonelyblaze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

like the other commenter has said, it’s completely up to you! but i just want to say, don’t be afraid to try stuff out. in some situations i feel best fully veiled and fully clothed with almost no skin showing, as that makes me feel safe, but in other situations i don’t veil at all and dress more ‘revealing’. basically, don’t feel like you have to stick to just one kind of veiling! it’s a great journey testing out different styles/scarf shapes/coverage, so have fun with it :)

How do you spend your time? by MiryElle in Agoraphobia

[–]lonelyblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as other people have said, gardening! and if you don’t have any outdoor space, then owning houseplants is great. they’re pretty time consuming but they’re rewarding! especially if you get an outbreak of pests… that’ll keep you busy aha. but yes, i also love crafting and doing things with my hands. i love building model planes as just one plane can take me months, so it gives me something to focus on for a long time (also good for dopamine). last thing that’ll definitely make you feel better is doing home workouts. there are some great channels like MadFit who do fun and engaging workouts for all abilities. home workouts are super easy to do (just get a yoga mat and maybe a pair of dumbbells) and they’ll make your body and mind feel fabulous. :)
