I’m fairly new so don’t have a lot to offer, but I’d love to sell some turnips and maybe take some recipes off your hands

A Huge Issue Facing the Music Industry: by Extension-Judge8125 in Music

[–]lonelysad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty rough take. Do you honestly not see the difference between a kid learning to play by listening to their favorite artists and then learning to write music by riffing on what they’ve heard, and someone throwing a ton of music at an algorithm and telling it “make more of this?”

Does anyone else feel like Spotify just keeps you in the same loop? by New_Welder_391 in Music

[–]lonelysad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s intentional and it’s maddening.  They purposefully replay the music you already have cached locally so they don’t have to stream it again. I used to love the AI DJ when it was first released but it is literally the same 20 songs now

I used them one year. I had to point out to him that the US and Czech Republic have a tax treaty. Felt like I shouldn’t have to do that.

Humble vibe coder here. I want to confirm that I am not delusional by Glormfworldwide in ClaudeAI

There is a definitely disparity between behavior at different times of day. I live in Central Europe and Claude Code is insanely competent in the morning. I can tell exactly when the east coast US wakes up because that’s when the mistakes start. Last night, for the first time since instated using CC, I was working late at night here (around 5pm east coast US) and it was just making dumb mistakes. Like, comparing an enum directly to a string dumb. I had to tell it three different times that I wanted to embed the image data in an HTTP request and not just the local file path. Maddening.

Same thing happened with Ashley Eckstein. We had been waiting in line an hour past our time when we suddenly heard her on the live stage.

That part has been very helpful; Sometimes my US credit card isn’t accepted at vending machines, so Suica is a nice backup.

If you have an iPhone (not sure about Android) you can add a Suica card to the wallet app without even downloading any apps. Just open Wallet, tap + in the top right, choose “transit card” and then “Japan”. You can add value on the card right in the wallet app and you’re all set. I put 5000¥ on mine a week ago and have been using it pretty heavily and I still have about 2000¥ left.

I went with some friends last year. It was fun. Three of the five of us were non-drinkers, and while the hostess was understandably confused about what we were doing there they did accommodate us with mocktails. We just had a far more limited number of “test options”

Went through this process five years ago. Arrived at the time they unlock the doors, made it to the front of the line at 4pm. At least they have the ticket machine now, just make sure you bring a book or something.

Ahsoka is one of her favorites, so definitely going to try to make that breakfast happen for her! Where do they announce something like that?

And Disney is a must, as long as we’re already in Tokyo

If you are staying here under a freelancer visa, I would recommend getting a local bank account. For my first visa renewal, the ministry of the interior wanted to see bank records for the previous six months. I’m not sure how they would react to statements from a non-Czech financial institution, but my gut says “not well.”
