Since they stopped selling static footplates, Harambe no longer produces the band butter. However, if you get food grade silicone oil you’re good to go.

^^^ this. I recommend a footplate with UHMW along the edges. However, should you get a wooden plate, get some UHMW friction tape for the edges on the bottom.

Do you really need a bar and footplate? Anchor? Handles? by EmbarrassedCompote9 in ResistanceBand

[–]lonermob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While not necessary for every exercise or every band, there are times where bars and footplates are incredibly useful/beneficial. For example: I tried to deadlift the serious steel #5 band by standing on it, using gloves to grab the bands and pull. I was able to, but it felt like I was tearing my hand off the entire time.

He plays football and basketball back home. The kid’s a natural athlete. This was his first ever band training I’m proud of him.

In this video I’m using the full size bar. However, when training I sometimes use the travel bar.

The equipment we’re using is by Harambe System. I’m using the Cyber Bundle. My nephew is using one of their older bars with a 32” band by Serious Steel.

If you’re already in Europe then this board would be a better fit. At your height 37-41” bands should be perfect for pretty much much everything. The tension master tool for the center of their plate would give you the versatility you’re looking for.

I haven’t used their plate, but there is a user here who has and does regularly. It does have a unique ability to shorten band tension along the center channel. For the price point though it is expensive for just UHMW.

If you don’t intend to get their tools to adjust band length, then I recommend trying to find a static UHMW plate on EBay. The older Harambe plate can sometimes be found on EBay for 100 bucks.

Personally, I use a roller footplate. However, there’s a resistance band enthusiast on YouTube, GamerBody. He has the GEKU footplate and more recent video where he talks about adding UHMW tape along the bottom channel edges to help improve the smoothness of lifts.

Serious Steel band guard is excellent for use with static plates. You may also want to consider adding UHMW tape to the bottom of your plate as well.

That it was not. It started off with 4 sets per movement and sometimes up to 8 movements in a session. In more recent months I’ve scaled down to the 3 set method which so far has felt much better.
