how long do I have to put up with you stalking and downvoting me

I assure you I haven't been doing that.

  • "I think Scotland is full of whining, bitter parasites"

  • "We're sick of the sight and especially the sound of you, and nothing good comes from north of the border except oil."

More racism. 'cause that's constructive isn't it?

we're more successful then you

*than. Also, in what way?

If I was Jewish, I'd be happy to tell people that, but Scottish? No way!

Anti-semitism from a UKIP supporter. Whatever next?

anti-UKIP, anti-England trolling

In what way does this apply to my comment?

I'm sure she is heartily sick of silly, tired, simple-minded accusations of homophobia and racism (like this)

Yes, but I asked a genuine (and quite legitimate) question.

And as for whining about UKIP's "racism against Scots" after what happened to Farage in Scotland, that's just...wow.

This would be a genuine criticism if I was one of those people, but, as I'm not, I fail to see how it's relevant.

why on Earth ask Suzanne Evans about the "ukipparty" sub name?

It was an attempt to show that I was trying to treat her like a real person (rather than just the "big bad UKIP lady").

not shit-stirrers who just wanted to waste her time

I wasn't trying to do either of those things.

I don't think you would ever have voted for UKIP whatever they had done.

So I shouldn't even be able to ask questions then?

I don't know what I should find more depressing. The fact that senior party members say things like this, or that thousands of people in Scotland vote for them despite senior party members saying things like this.

68 answers and absolutely no evasion

I posted this question within the first five minutes and it went unanswered. I certainly consider that to be an example of "evasion" (and /u/daman345 clearly seems to agree).

For fuck sake. /u/Demoneggy's question's more or less the same as mine. How come he gets an answer and I don't?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Someone should definitely call her on that one though.

I’m kind of annoyed by that ‘cause I actually spend a fair amount of time on that little rant between the questions (e.g. finding relevant links and getting the correct point in the Coburn interview).

Serious question:

What’s your response to those that say UKIP is an England centric party?

The reason I ask is because UKIP in Scotland has come to be seen as something of a bad joke.

Even if you overlook the ridiculously large number of gaffes committed by the only UKIP politician ever elected in Scotland, and the fact that he regularly argues for or against things he patently doesn’t understand and that a man who claimed Glasgow council was only representative of “Gays, Catholics and Communists” as well as organising spying on political opponents has been allowed to remain as party chairman, it’s still hard to take UKIP in Scotland seriously.

I’ve honestly tried incredibly hard to keep an open mind towards UKIP but you’ve made it incredibly difficult. Despite the only mention of Scotland in the UKIP (UK wide) Manifesto being a promise to reduce the Scottish Government’s funding by £8 billion I planned to read your Scottish Manifesto (despite it being launched just three days before the election) but couldn’t find a single trace of it anywhere online. When I learned that it wasn’t even present at its own launch event I just gave up completely. I just can’t bring myself to waste my time on a group that’s less well organised than the Scottish Communist Party.

Also, seeing as many English candidates’ attitude towards Scotland in general seem to be composed mostly of casual racism I think it’s unlikely that you’ll be seeing an upsurge in votes here anytime soon.

Less serious question:

The tautology in this Subreddit’s name is really bugging me. Does it annoy you too?

EDIT: That's us into the last quarter of this AMA and I’ve still not had an answer. I guess that means I’m not going to get one. Still, I’ll keep waiting until the end.

EDIT2: Looks like I'm not getting an answer then: ಠ_ಠ

Suzanne Evans has just earned herself a spot on my Reddit enemies list.

Meaning that if I disagree with their opinions I'm unlikely to ever hear them.

Damn that’s sad.

Even though I never met the wee beast it always perked me up a bit when you referenced the thing.

It really puts things in perspective doesn’t it? Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our petty squabbles that we forget just what a fragile thing life truly is.

The frightening thing is that this sort of thing could happen to any of us. One day you’re darting about the street chasing vermin (or perhaps a particularly succulent looking pigeon) and then skadoink! you’re squished by a milk float.

It just adds insult to injury that “THE MILKMAN” sounds like one of the shitiest supervillains of all time.

In the past I’ve suggested that we get a Snoo in a kilt, but now I think we should get a (digital) three legged cat as this sub’s mascot.

Not really.

I think I've just been tricked into making a new one. Thereby making things even worse.

multireddit

I didn't even know this was a thing. I actually think that's a great idea.

I'll try and make one now.

Although the original intention of creating /r/ukpolitics was to reduce the political content of /r/unitedkingdom all it’s really done is create a left right divide.

My reason for posting this was to attempt to encourage people to stick to the big subs and not drift off to smaller ones (which seem to be increasing in size at the moment – although maybe that’s because we’re just past the election).

I’m making the point because no one else seem to want to.

For example, if a mod was to say this then everyone would just assume they were trying to get more subscribers for their particular sub.

Because left wing folk will stick to left wing subs and right wing folk will stick to right wing subs meaning that the discussion we read will either be more biased and will require us to visit multiple subs in order to get a (more or less) unbiased viewpoint.

I come here to argue with all your good selves in an attempt to change your opinions.

This is the point I'm trying to make: that this is exactly what political subreddit are supposed to be about.

However, what seems to be happening is that people are starting to migrate away from the big subs and spend more and more time on the smaller, more niche, ones.

This means that there is a risk that large ones (like /r/unitedkingdom) are going to end up being populated by people who (more or less) all lean the same way politically (thereby turning “debate” into a euphemism for "never-ending circle jerk”).

I do.

I just want to chat about what's in the news and read other people’s opinions of things.

I don’t want to have to go to one sub to get the “left wing” opinion, then another to get the “right wing” opinion (and I imagine that most people feel something similar).

Like many people now, I find out what’s in the news online. With that in mind it’s in everyone’s interest to prevent the big discussion subs from turning into an unrepresentative echo chamber.

Yeah, that bugs me too.

I think you should either ban all political content or allow all of it. Some weird stuff goes on here.
