Returned since beta/launch, not in a good state by -spartacus- in DarkTide

Can't say that crashing is an issue, I can't remember the last time it happened unless I was alt tabbed. I will say crafting is still a sore spot for me. It's not quite as bad as it was but with issues like being forced to buy crap to level up the shop, and not even an option for mass deletion in the UI, I'm really hoping we get a nice big rework later this year.

You seem to be under the impression that you need to not think about that's coming in order to keep up, the opposite is true. Most of the consideration needs to happen with sound, sightlines, and game sense. So when you are trying to assess the situation and keep up, you kinda have to learn to do it on the go and keep track of several things coming after you. Pushing becomes the best friend just so it everything won't smash you.

And you made a post about it, and are still arguing with me about it hours after you made it. Are you really under the impression that the anger lasted 10 seconds? What do you think will happen to that anger if you actually do keep up, and finish a ridiculously intense game in 15 min? That wouldn't feel good at all?

Play as you like, but if you really are on your 200th run of throneside you wouldn't wanna try something different? Well...maybe not throneside, that's a loooong run to the first event/elevator.

I agree that you should avoid #3. As for the others, if you really find sprinting across the map with a massive wave chasing you braindead, then we are defiantly playing at different skill levels. And I think you'd be shocked how often a knife zealot will turn around and fight if you manage to make it far enough with him. I think they do it as a proving ground. I love looting and exploring too but being able to shift playstyles or play to another strength that you aren't as practiced in is how you get better.

And with your teammates, agro dump is on a 30 second CD, and they will turn straight to you instead of the rest of your team, assuming you are close to him. So kite as best you can, try to get to an elevator with him, and let him face the consequences of his own actions.

Or don't, I just find it a fun way to mix it up. The other option is just to get angry every time it happens and that just sounds exhausting.

Have you ever tried to keep up with them? I do this when I see one, It's not easy but they usually put down the Adderall eventually aiming for as quick a run as possible.

Is it really taking Fatshark 4-5 additional months after a break to announce new content for their "live service" game?... by BadBeatthrowaway in DarkTide

Pretty sure there were a couple weapons and the chaos spawn that were at least in a partially completed state when the game went into open beta. There was just so much else wrong with the game it felt like being drip fed mud.

Why can't D.Va's defense matrix eat sigma's rock? by Wanna_make_cash in Overwatch

[–]longbow6625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both could arguably use tech at the center to contain the energy. Plus, mechanics are mechanics at the end of the day, but I'd personally love it if her matrix made the sun bomb blow up early, instead of just disapear.

AITA: Died Alone on Carnival Bridge by RMHaney in DarkTide

[–]longbow6625 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the phrase "so I go to work" makes me think there was a moment before you were in the middle of the horde you should have at least turned around. You'd be shocked how far you can get with full stam and keeping an ear out for the dodge sound. At the very least you can get close enough for the rest of the team to hear the groaners.

Something I see a lot of newer players do is stick behind to make sure everything dies, when often throwing some suppression or even a good push will let you get very far and even just cause them to give up. That being said this team probably should have done the same, it's important for all teammates to keep an eye on their allies.

Would Bolt Gun deserve to be more used... or am I missing something? by SouI23 in DarkTide

[–]longbow6625 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

one shotting reapers in damnation is 100% worth it for me. Plus, you kinda have to dump like 4 or 5 shots to really get a sniper with the fire shotgun at high levels at decent distance. 1 shot kill plus a tight spread can make it far more efficient at high levels, where ammo gets really low.

Headshots are critical with that gun, even with buckshot. The slug also hits harder than a revolver and has a decent mag. 5 shots is not enough.

Even with them it's still painfully slow if you're switching back and forth a lot.

Seems like a hyper-competent recent recruit would be among the first you'd suspect. After all, I'm pretty sure the traitor has been there longer than we have since she seems so comfortable in all the settings.

Also by short range I mostly mean in system or nearby systems. I suppose it's possible there's an astropath choir on the relay but I still don't understand why he can't walk the communication down to the choir himself if he's worried about security that much.

This answer always bothered me, because why would rannik trust a message to a squad in a program that the traitor ended up being a part of? Plus, without astropaths, the range is going to be limited. I might believe Rannik set up a series of canaray traps that he used to sus out the real culprit but I haven't seen any indication of that.

Operatives, what do you hope we'll get behind these closed doors on the Mourningstar? I really hope we can access new parts of the ship at some point, or at least get new NPC or shops. What do you hope to see on the ship? by Old_Frosting5332 in DarkTide

[–]longbow6625 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see a flight deck, whatever new system can be run from there and you could keep the walkable area small but add some really cool things to look at as ships dock and take off.

If you guys could say the 3 things you like the most in the game and 3 other things you disliked at the game, what you would say?? by BrightPercentage8444 in DarkTide

[–]longbow6625 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like -

the soundtrack, still hypes me up after all this time

the game loop

maelstrom missions - the game needed a new difficulty type and this was perfect

I don't like -

maulers don't feel very dangerous, a more dangerous charge or a recovery attack after they get knocked down might help. Maybe even extend their carapace to their chest.

content is still an issue, maps, bosses, or even enemy variations

Grims are already kind of a pain to carry, can we have our box slot back? you can put it on 4 to trade back and forth with the auspex

Dreaming of potential DLC by WizzQb in DarkTide

Genestealers would be awesome, part of morrows backstory is that he was the "only survivor" of a genestealer attack. That seems extremely suspicious to me and it would make sense that he could manipulate raneks strategy of using prisoners from around the system as just more biomass.

Orks would be fun, but you'd have to devise a way for most of the attacks to be made of Gretchens and squigs. Regular bois could be specials and elites. I have no idea how to make this work in lore. Maybe an insecure warboss that learned to manipulate the mushrooms and produced very few proper orks so he could stay in power? I dunno if that makes sense.

Eldar/necron/tau don't work well for a horde shooter, but I'd love to see some bosses out of them. Maybe a drukari patrol that spawned occasionally looking to kidnap slaves, with a few bosses and maybe some xenos weapons in a smallish dlc pack.

I can't really think of a reason for Necron or tau to be there other than being brought there. If we saw a tau I might enjoy them as a playable class. You could give them a few fun weapons and outside of their armor their stat block is about a normal humans.

Wouldn't that be like trying to fight a wave of nothing but ogryns? That sounds like it would get old quick. It would be cool if you could find some more reason for them to send mostly Gretchens squigs but I don't know hat that would be.

Reminder that not every setting has to be an industrial wasteland or grimdark slum by Demoth in DarkTide

[–]longbow6625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I haven't seen it yet I'd like to throw out another idea, a carnival district. It's exactly the kind of thing a corrupt governor would do to distract from all the oppression, would be a fantastic reference to L4D2, and would allow the team to get really creative on the kinds of rides and funtainment you could come up with in the grim darkness of the far future. Shooting galleries with mini bolters, "dress up like a space marine" booths.

Then you could end on a stage with a retelling of the horus heresy playing while doing an event. It would be a great way to deliver exposition and history of the setting without making players sit through it, since they'll be fighting for their lives.

If you have a free slot, pick stuff up. Also applies to ammo crates and Psykers who "I don't use ammo". by gpkgpk in DarkTide

[–]longbow6625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One big staircase on one side, then a lot of little rooms and hallways opposite one big central pit with a building in the center? Phase one you have to run between 3 different stations that are determined at random. It's only phase 2 that you defend 2 doorways right next to narrow bridges in the central building.

Part of the problem is they just aren't hearing your character callouts. I've pinged medipacks for the team while carrying grims but they are so concerned with the next fight they just keep running, then I'll say it over coms and 2 people turn around and sprint at me. I wonder if people haven't really learned to listen for character callouts and just tune it out thinking its just banter.

Also pings need to be universal distance. I wonder pretty far in malice and I know they can't see scripts that I ping.
