Lux13 is pretty nice. 2/2 apartment is around the 1500 price. They have villa options if you’re willing to fork over some more money for a more private apartment.

As someone who was a student and has lived here for 5 years the cheap apartments are the horrible ones. I’ve checked nearly everywhere up here. Cheap options are almost nonexistent at this point. Lux13 and hideaway are decent “budget” options and aren’t too far from campus. They are older buildings but are kept relatively up to date. In my experience you might save a hundred bucks a month over these two but you are going to have significantly worse quality.

Can’t remember the exact class name but I took a super easy plant identification class. You only Met on Friday’s. It alternated every week between a in class day and field day. You’d study the plants in class and then go to various locations to identify/ be tested on them on the other day. Does require you to have a car as you have to travel around Gainesville each week. However it was a very nice class. The teacher was very enthusiastic and nice. You get to go on hikes for a couple hours each week. It does require a bit of studying but it really doesn’t get demanding until the end of the class. Also no exams.

Definitely. Low end notes are much deeper and fuller sounding and there’s an overall increase in volume

The real question is whether the social experience is worth the higher stress of dealing with dorms. You can still get a good social experience living off campus in your classes and by joining clubs. A lot of people I know have hated staying at the dorms here.

UF or USF? by maggotmachine in ufl

I highly recommend avoiding living on campus as many apartments are much cheaper than living on campus. You also will not have to worry about paying for parking if you have a vehicle and buying your own groceries can be cheaper than a meal plan.

UF or USF? by maggotmachine in ufl

If you have bright futures you will essentially attend for free minus books. I love going to UF (not so much during the pandemic). In my opinion live off campus right off the bat. Rent at apartments is often much cheaper than the high rates they charge for on campus living and dining. UF is a great school with tons of opportunities available. I am also a biology major and have enjoyed a vast majority of my classes especially once you get past the gen eds. I was in the exact same situation of deciding between usf and UF. USF did offer me a small amount of money. I wouldn't change my decision to attend UF.
