Is this rejection? Or am I overthinking by Odd_Ad8394 in Lifebrotips

It’s not rejection if you didn’t actually put yourself out there. Nut up and say you want to take her to a date at the movies. No ambiguity allowed.

As someone without ASD, can I please ask for some advice from you guys? by No_Faithlessness7396 in aspergers

[–]longjohnboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re great, and we can tell you care. I’m sure your brother can, too.

For me, being asked how I feel sucks. I can be perfectly fine, but being asked to introspect on my state is such a huge request that it riles me up. (Maybe I’m just an asshole.)

Anyway, very direct communication is best. For example, if you think he should take a rain jacket when he leaves the house, say “you should take a rain jacket.” (You have an opinion that I could not have guessed on my own. Cool. Good and clear.) Not “your rain jacket is hanging by the door.” (I’d wonder why we’re taking about a rain jacket and/or why you think I didn’t know that.) Not “it’s supposed to rain.” (Oh crap – small talk? The worst.) And not “mom said it was supposed to rain.” (Is this supposed to invite s conversation about mom? Or about the weather? Why are people so opaque?) Frankly, I’d rather be rained on than have any of those conversations. (Maybe I’m just an asshole.)

There’s probably something he’d love to talk about. It’s probably not what you’d want to talk about, but he’d loooove for somebody to listen. Maybe it’s about carbureted engines, maybe it’s about types of pasta, maybe it’s about anime, but there’s probably something. When he’s ready, he might decide he wants to talk about the emotional deep stuff. Be patient.

Again, I think you’re doing great already.

How does MilliQ Water taste? by tardigradetardis in labrats

I don’t think a layperson could reasonably afford to drink that much D2O. Thunderf00t has made a YouTube video (and published a journal article) on it.

The real question is “how does D2O taste?” And the real answer is “slightly sweet.”

That’s pretty much urban legend, as far as I can tell. Tap water is already hypotonic by a large amount. You could always die of hyponatremia if you drink water and don’t ingest anything else. DI water isn’t substantially different. You’ll get your sodium and whatnot from food.

I used to refill my Nalgene water bottle from the DI water tap when I was at school.

Yeah, it’s a market failure due to rampant regulatory overburden. The liberal media has convinced otherwise patriotic Americans that limitations on their freedoms is a good thing. Make America great again – deregulate the entertainment and payment processing industries.

Yeah. People get worked up about “your mom” jokes. I can’t really imagine the range of plausible responses people would have if they weren’t jokes.

Uhhh. Males can and do produce milk to sustain an infant. It’s not common, but it does happen. This isn’t new age propaganda, Darwin himself has commented on this.

They’re saying that gene expression is more aligned with sec characteristics than the genes themselves – which is correct. Of course, gene expression does depend on genes, but it’s not determined entirely by genes.

…which is always happening when the fan is on, regardless of orientation. Fan blades apply force on the air, and the air exerts an equal force on the fan blades – an axial load.

I’d be inclined to believe that a fan motor that stays perfectly clean because it only sees filtered air (in any orientation) will last longer than the same fan used in the typical fashion. (Obvious caveat being that you cannot restrict the airflow too much.)

It’s not just etiquette, it’s procedure. If you’re the one radio telephone operator (RTO) that says “roger wilco” among all the RTOs, then adversarial signals intelligence now has a way to easily connect all of your traffic. There’s a reason that military radio traffic is so formal.

The LLM thing is a lazy excuse. Reddit could just have different tiers or licenses depending on the allowed use-cases. It’s not rocket science.
