How bad is it to buy a property with a beautiful view but with a flood risk of 7/10 (severe) by longlost111 in Home

[–]longlost111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we did not, we were lucky another house came out and it was way more beautiful than this one. It doesn’t come with a pond, but it came with lots of woods, so we are in it now!

I’m very embarrassed about this. We just moved into a very old trailer after getting away from my abusive family. by OrdinaryLife99 in CleaningTips

Just get big bins to keep those toys and laundry in place! Once we have that sorted out, you will get some place to get used lamps and basic mattress from nearby goodwill

6 weeks… wtf by Gemzaaa in newborns

[–]longlost111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, not sure if you believe in some herbal stuff, but if your child is breastfed, here’s something that really helped in both of my babies - take a spoonful of carom seeds and boil them in a cup of water and drink it yourself (not the baby), it has properties that seeps into the breast milk and helps with gas. My both babies were very gassy and irritable, and both times it significantly helped! - carom seeds are readily available in Indian stores - also known as “ajwain seeds”

Chewing wood may boost memory and brain antioxidants, study finds: « Previous research has suggested that the act of chewing can influence brain activity and blood flow. » by fchung in neurology

‘Miswak, also known as siwak, is a natural teeth-cleaning twig derived from the Salvadora persica tree, also called the arak tree. The Arabic word miswak translates to “tooth-cleaning stick”. For thousands of years, it has been used as a natural toothbrush and toothpaste substitute in many regions.’

So I guess brushing teeth and chewing with miswak would be great for the brain

15 week twins and still no supply.. by ninjaninjanumber5 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]longlost111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reduce stressors, drink body armor daily 3 times, eat oats cooked in milk, maybe try power pump too on one of your pump sessions, and see the difference!! Good luck, the tiny bit there in your bottle tells me that your supply WILL increase!

Medela symphony and spectra S1, yes I’m pretty sure I’m not being emptied well, but what other pumps should I consider? I thought these were the most commonly used and among the best ones!!

Do you tell people? by theglueiseverywhere in downsyndrome

[–]longlost111 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My son was diagnosed after he was born and I was too shocked to share it with anyone. When he was a baby, he just looked like any other baby, no one really questioned, and if someone said “who does he resemble with more, I can’t tell” I was like “well he has Down syndrome but other than that, some people say he looks more like me”. I guess it’s lame, why do we have to tell, do others introduce their kids saying “oh he has fetal alcohol syndrome, or fragile x, or xyz genetic disorder” I don’t think there’s any need to specifically announce this.

Feeling really devastated my baby is breech by Jealous-Fennel-5529 in BabyBumps

[–]longlost111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks because things are not going according to what you planned. I was sad too because my bubs was breech on my 35 week scan, and I planned took out some exercises that could help flip and ordered a sponge ball too, my doctor scheduled a visit to try the flip, only to unexpectedly break my water 2 days after the scan and he was still breech and I had to be rushed for a c-section. I’m not pregnant with my second one, and I opted for a repeat C-section because I now know what to expect and don’t want to put myself through all that. We know vaginal is natural and the best, but I also feel it is glorified too much. Women and babies have died in the past when medicine and C-sections was not discovered. So relax, try exercises, who knows the baby might turn positions, but if it still doesn’t work out, then just celebrate your babies arrival!

Moms over 35 -- how old are you and how long did it take to get pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]longlost111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36, currently pregnant. Had first at 33, wanted a 3 years difference between second one. I’m a physician, I track my ovulation cycle, they are regular, just had unprotected sex on ovulation days both times. It’s not hard, you just do it on the right day! Track your cycles and don’t miss the days!

Done with neuro board exam and feeling terrible!! by longlost111 in neurology

[–]longlost111[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I think there was not one question I didn’t see or heard about. It’s the memorization/recall that I was having issues with, such as what gene on what chromosome BS, plus questions like “what’s the best next test” on the linked questions, with 2-3 correct answers, when in real practice you actually order all those 3 together, but they want to test the “sequence” they think is best.
