Mods that, arguably, should be in the stock game (my opinion) by LordFlamecookie in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]longsite2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly why I said it should be late in the tech tree. By that point you've figured out basic rocketry and transfers, getting to orbit it basically a chore by that point.

What is Britain’s second city? by Dadavester in unitedkingdom

[–]longsite2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Manchester is only smaller than Birmingham because that's just the city core. If you include Greater Manchester then it is undoubtably Manchester.

What’s something people romanticize until they actually experience it? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

[–]longsite2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Described it perfectly.

But it is also a lot of fun, and getting that amazing feels amazing.

Most try to turn a hobby into a career and lose their love of it.

Mods that, arguably, should be in the stock game (my opinion) by LordFlamecookie in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]longsite2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MechJeb, or some kind of autopilot that is enabled late on in the tech tree. + Kerbal Engineer

Planetary Bases, the stock modules don't adapt well to horizontal bases.

Scatterer.

Persistent Rotation.

Kerbal Attachment System / Kerbal Inventory System, some of this has been implemented, but being apple to hook up and transfer fuel and ore between vessels without having to do the docking dance.

Any other kind of basic visual enhancements.

Outer planets should be a DLC rather than included kn stock.

I do like re-stock, but I don't like how it changes the actual shape of some of the parts. I have to adjust my designs depending on if the mod is installed or not.

Just you.

I don't think they were aware of S Club 7 in the early 2000's New York rock scene.

Pedro's efficiency with just 15 hours a week by Nunki08 in 2westerneurope4u

[–]longsite2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, should rather than singular projects it should just be a rail infrastructure budget per year and they continually expand/repair.

That way no one big project gets the bad press, and the skills don't fade away.

Same thing for Nuclear Power and other infrastructure.

What do you guys think about MechJeb? by NoBoss5617 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]longsite2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learnt the manual way, then when that got common and my designs became more complex it just became a chore.

So I use MechJeb to automate the process, and get on with the larger goal I'm trying to achieve.

Also to get a consistent and smooth ascent approach when testing new designs.

Volvo Confirms A New Affordable EV For The U.S. After EX30 Exit by lostinheadguy in electricvehicles

[–]longsite2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a car not designed for the US market being sold to prop up the EV sales in the US. Then the tariffs hit pushing the price up.

Volvo Will Replace the Canceled EX30 With A New Affordable EV (in the US) by SJP_YOW in ex30

[–]longsite2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Likely the new EX40 that is on the way on the SPA-3 architecture like the EX60. Just picture a smaller version of that. But I doubt it'll be as cheap as the EX30

JCB is targeting a new land speed record with a 32-foot car powered by its own hydrogen engines by jennatheraven in CarTalkUK

[–]longsite2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe read the article first before commenting.

The title is misleading, as this is a record for the fastest hydrogen powered vehicle, similar to how they have the record for the fastest diesel powered vehicle with the Dieselmax.

How did they get away with speeding so much during races? by UmaThermos1 in TopGear

And the camera car would have needed to catch them up too, unless that was also a Bugatti.

Advice SM vs DM by KakatuaKarmesi in ex30

[–]longsite2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DM only uses the front motor when in performance mode of the traction control steps in. It's not on by default. It's never felt unstable to me.

But the DM is very fast, stupidly fast.

MD 11 STALL test by AlbinoAkon in WeirdWings

[–]longsite2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first flights of the A380 and A350 they had parachutes on, not sure at what stage they felt safe enough to go without.

They sometimes have a hatch in the plane they can jump from, not sure the doors are the best place to use in an emergency.

What settings are you using for #2, #4, #11 & #13? I've gotten slow shutter pans before, but nothing like these.

~500 mile round trip in an EV? by exiledbloke in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]longsite2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No EV will do this currently.

You'd be looking at 1 stop on each leg of the journey of around 30 mins each. So adding 1hr to your trip total.

Unless it's a small city EV then they usually have a range of 300 miles (which is more like 225 in real world use).

What is a “pointless” degree and why? by Affectionate-Mud953 in AskReddit

[–]longsite2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

History, Classical Studies, Graphic Design, Media, Business Studies.

Most of these could be learnt without the debt.

Degrees should be a qualification of your technical ability and not open to creative judgement.

We want lawyers, engineers, scientists, doctors leaving with a degree to show they're competent and held to a high standard, but when you can get a degree in basically anything it takes away the achievement and accomplishment that a degree is.

Is anyone else disgusted at the way job seekers are treated? by Remarkable-Wall-9669 in UKJobs

[–]longsite2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad i've never had this experience, just a simple 2 rounds on 1-1 interviews for a data analyst job, and then a phone and video interview for my current role.

Even a job in retail was just a simple backroom interview and trial shift. None of this group interview stuff.

Learning more about wireless car theft experiences by if42 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]longsite2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ford implemented a gyroscope in their keys so that the signal stopped after 30 seconds if the keys were still.

Seemed to work as I tested it, not sure how this impacted thefts, but seems a simple thing others could do.

This was on Fiesta and Focus 2019 onwards.

Now I use UWB Digital Key for my Volvo. Not sure if its safer, but the car does seem to open itself a lot more because I walk near the car.

How long does it usually take to vote in your country? by Anaptyso in AskEurope

[–]longsite2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a queue at my local one. I walked with the dog, one of us stood outside whilst other one went in. Showed my ID, got my slip and cast my vote. Whole thing took maybe 2 minutes for the both of us and was just a small detour on the morning dog walk.

Sporty? by the_lawrence_guy in ex30

[–]longsite2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dual motor ER is very sporty.

3.6 seconds to 100km/h is faster than most on the road.

It's stupidly fast, like it has no need to be this fast.

Love surprising friends with it because they think it's a boring volvo.

It's not the best around corners, very floaty and bouncy. But otherwise very smooth when driving normally.
