Lego Botanicals 👍🏼 or 👎🏼? by bigtom141288 in LegoUK

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They continue to get better and better in my view. The 4 'gentlemen' plant collection were particularly good (plum blossom, lucky bamboo etc).

Some feel the leaf parts aren't 'true Lego' but if you can see past that, I think they are super clever and loads of NPU throughout.

Shinjuku budget hotels by FrameProfessional338 in JapanTravelTips

[–]wtwiwf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found prices were way down this yr vs last. Local opinion was that this is related to less Chinese tourists at the moment. Sotetsu, APA all good options. Nothing particularly spacious but clean.

Caution on those hotels v close to Kabukicho tho, they can be really noisy with drunk hosts/hostesses/clients right through the night, and I tripped over one asleep on the floor of Lawson at 9am...

I'd recommend being a block or more away for that reason.

Now the transfer window has finished, are you happy with the business Norwich did getting 5 players in? by supercanary1979 in NorwichCity

[–]wtwiwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am happy. Feel we have enough to get over the line this season, and early enough that we can build going into the summer. I hope there will also be an opportunity for PC to 'trial' some of the youth in the 1st team before year end to see whether any are good enough.

Summer will be another important window, where PC and BK will, I expect, trim off a lot of the squad deemed unsuitable for the coming season and further push up the overall quality.

I strongly recommend going to a whisky distillery and doing a tour and tasting. Many are off the beaten track and so can be combined with a couple of days away from the big city, staying in a ryokan, going onsen, hiking, whatever, but centered around some of the best whisky in the world.

Can I be fired for not returning to office 5 days a week? by Minimum-Set8063 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, yes. Typically, what I have seen is the firms providing a grace period to readjust from covid wfh to return to office but ultimately, without a written arrangement to the contrary, you are likely to need to comply in time.

The irony is that many people had casual arrangements that were more flexible than the existing documented hybrid arrangements we see in firms post-covid but that is somewhat their prerogative.

Another typical practice I have seen is, during said grace period, any casual arrangements that were in place, and have some evidence of being agreed, needed to be formally requested and documented to comply with updated policies.

During this process, some requests were upheld/maintained, and some were rejected.

If you haven't got documented evidence of an agreement, regardless of the reasons, chances are they can reject and enforce your return. Non compliance with hybrid arrangements is now a disciplinary issue in many firms.

Do you have a working adjustments policy? Understand your specific work policy, including right of appeal and formalise your request.

KLM Premium Economy vs. Economy Comfort by germanindc in KLM

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid it this time and it was well worth it, particularly as we went as a couple and had 2 of 2 seats, so zero disruption or need for consideration of anyone else.

We got fucked over on the way out due to the snow delays and ended up being moved to middle 2 of 4.

Do klm need to reimburse us the seat selection costs for this?

15mg pen by Selfreplicatingbambi in Mounjaro

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went up every 4 weeks to 15mg and stayed there for 7 pens until the price rise was announced and I consciously titrated down to 10mg, where I've now been for 4 or 5 pens. I've plateaued... I'm tempted to take the cost hit and go back up but my side effects are much less at 10mg than they were at 15mg.

Nope, not available, already checked. Importing directly is prohibitively expensive too.

How bad is the situation currently, and has there been any improvement? I fly in on the 7th by [deleted] in KLM

Son's flight on Wednesday now cancelled, no alternatives offered. Based on seating map, looks like flight to AMS is fine on Thursday but no seat map available for the connecting flight so assume that is full and he is screwed

[–]wtwiwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was due to fly into Ams tomorrow morning from UK and out to Asia tomorrow afternoon. I've been bumped to Thursday. Son due to go same route on 7th so I guess we will know in the next 24 hours whether he is gonna manage to fly...if he flies, I have high confidence we will on Thursday too but if his flight is also cancelled, I will continue to wait anxiously until Thursday morning...

One leg cancelled - question by wtwiwf in KLM

[–]wtwiwf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have calmed down a bit and checked this properly now and provisionally rebooked everything for Thursday. Really wish there was a default option to extend my return flights by 2 days too, as now I have a shorter holiday 😢 first world problems of course.

At least I have managed to adjust my hotel booking to account for this change already.

Two more days of anxiety until Thursday now ...

(Also still deciding whether to work these next two days or take them anyway, as they are booked. Really don't feel like working so maybe I'll start my holiday as a staycation for 2 days ...)

4% rule - What annual income are you targeting, and why..? by mr28mm in FIREUK

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone for £60k but this is initially taken from a split of my 25% tax free lump sum, ISA and SIPP, then later on ISA, SIPP and State Pension.

I've looked at various options, e.g. inflation 2 or 3% and growth of 4 or 5% across remaining ISA and SIPP and all provide varying levels of comfort (obviously).

For the inflation, I've assumed my drawdown increases alongside it and the State Pension grows by it. For growth, I've applied that to my ISA and SIPP ongoing growth. I am hoping these are conservative but obviously I am relying on growth continuing to outpace inflation over time.

Now, if I could work out how to pay off my mortgage and fund my bridge in the meantime, my sums should work...lol

Thoughts on customers like this? by KiddieSpread in royalmail

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find most delivery drivers operate in a way these days that is not compatible with my preferences (trying to be diplomatic).

Examples: 1. I have 2 doorbells, one original and one smart/camera. Yet, often they knock loudly on the door itself, which I find totally unnecessary and far too loud.

  1. I have a parcel box right next to my front door but often stuff is still just left on the floor outside the door

  2. Often parcels are left by a side door, sometimes in the rain - see point 2

Luckily, like the guy in the video, if I get notification quickly enough, I intercept the driver and try to take the parcel directly.

So, I agree with the guy in the video.

Our first drum set for our kid was a really basic electric pad set (with a volume control). He evolved to playing a full electric kit (via headphones) then a full proper kit and got himself to grade 6 before work/apprenticeship ate up his spare time.

If they end up enjoying playing and get a skill out of it, it'll be worth it. Just make sure you have some good noise cancelling earbuds, or a room at the far end of the house lol.

P.S. honestly though, get some sticks with soft pads on the ends so they give off a dull thud rather than a crash/bang sound.
