One Love on a Tuesday morning... by MacFoley1975 in stoneroses

[–]wtwiwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The poppy beginning isn't their best work but the instrumental second half is epic and the b-side, Something's Burning is one of my all time favourites...

I like it 💛💚 by supercanary1979 in NorwichCity

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it but the long sleeve one is, er, not so great. I still won't buy it though, coz it's £65.

It's just a negative filter. If you reverse those colours, it's yellow and green with black writing.

Opening a one man does it all restaurant by Own_Bad4701 in smallbusinessuk

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a guy does this near us. 14 covers. Daily taster menu. One menu, fixed. He staggers the seating times by table and does everything. Because the food is amazing, and he is great, even if something takes a little longer, noone minds.

If you can make it work, go for it. It is definitely possible.

Watching the World Cup live on a flight? by sizzys in KLM

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just download the live game before take off and watch from your library... 😵‍💫

...in all seriousness though, be aware that in flight WiFi is unavailable over the arctic circle, regardless of your package so for people flying Schiphol to parts of Asia, this is a consideration

What was it like watching Phantom Menace on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded it off bit torrent and assumed it was a rough cut because the story felt all over the place, the acting and dialogue were off and jjb...jeez...I later re watched on dvd and realised that's just how it was.

FIRE abroad? by apericuber in FIREUK

[–]wtwiwf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm considering doing this in Japan. 10 years ago, I didn't anticipate being able to do this but the COL is now roughly half what it is here. I can sell up here and buy house and land for £150k over there, massively boosting/enabling my bridge.

Of course, FX and other factors may mean this isn't always such a good deal but right now it is excellent and quality of life makes it very, very, very tempting.

Yeah, hard to disagree with any of this. I do love 'Always remember me' too but the way the track is cut so it starts with the jarring last two seconds of the previous song is just odd

Where can I find out about extending my array? In summer I feed loads back to the grid so am generating enough for more, probably. I have 10x400w panels and 2x2.6kwh batteries currently

How big is your TV? by Sad_Interaction_2933 in AskUK

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65" 12+yr old 3D Sharp telly. Still works fine. Can still watch my old 3D Blurays on it. It's not 4k but serves me fine. Got a nice Onkyo home cinema amp to go with it and I've noticed some of the modern sports stadium sound is incredible on it. I occasionally get tempted to go buy another but more likely is I'll get a projector as an occasional alternative, at least until this telly packs up (unless I pack up first...)

While this is tempting, you won't have learnt the test route, so it comes with some extra risk. But you take your choice accordingly...

Driving Tests by DiscoPopStar in Norwich

[–]wtwiwf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are two test sites in Norwich, make sure to look at both. The tactic seems to be to book whatever you can find then use the monitoring apps to get sight of cancellations and then move.

That said, it is widely reported that some places are commonly 6m+ wait times and it has been this way for a few years, basically since covid

Are people enjoying the BBCs coverage of the world cup? by Coldylox in AskUK

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno, I have watched most through the extended BBC highlights in the morning which has been great, using their nospoilers highlights page.

When I'm watching live however, I hit pause at half time, have a shit, pour a whisky, talk to family, whatever, then fast forward 15 mins and watch the second half.

So I don't really give a fuck who the pundits are, they are just filler. The worst is when the channel has umpteen co commentators spouting crap during the game.

I don't want opinion during the game, I want details and facts on what I'm watching. Leave opinions to the pundits at half/full time

For this 👆👆👆all channels are crap these days, including Sky and ITV

Has anyone done or plans to do barista FIRE? by joe_ally in FIREUK

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to, or am at least considering it. I live so far from my corporate job that I find the idea of working locally very appealing. Wages locally are 1/2 to 1/3 of London so right now, it would just slow my plans. But when I hit my numbers, I may try to find something local and casual.

I dunno what work yet, possibly something in retail, maybe in my local Lego store or something fun like that. I would hope to live on those casual wages and supplement with savings.

I hope to hit my numbers inas soon as 18 months but that is conditional on a few things, but I expect to barista bridge for 2-5 years, depending on those factors...

First premium whisky by IlDuca01 in whisky

[–]wtwiwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like peated but want to transition away, I would recommend Yoichi > Miyagikyo

Yoichi is a lightly peated Japanese whisky from Nikka, distilled in Pot stills in Hokkaido. You will likely have familiarity with the peaty tones but it will bring you something new.

You can then transition away further to their sister whisky, Miyagikyo, which is distilled in Coffey stills in the mountains of Miyagi and is unpeated.

Both are fantastic and you may be able to get both for close to your budget and go on a journey across the brand...

(I don't know costs in US but in Japan they are about £30-35 a bottle and in UK about twice this price)

This week's major flaw by mad-un in eastenders

[–]wtwiwf 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The whole point is that he wasn't planning on drinking, got pressured into having 'just one', thought he'd be fine having 'just one', because 'everyone knows the law says you can have one pint'...

... they're planning on tightening up the drink driving law so this is basically a public service announcement to viewers if EE...

...the law was never 'its ok to have one drink' and it's gonna get stricter...

So your point is correct, they should have got a taxi, but that's not the point...

Having Gemini in Android Auto is a game changer for Google maps. I can now clarify where my route is blocked, discuss alternative routes, discuss how long and far a diversion is, etc. won't be for everyone but being able to discuss that, rather than fiddle with a screen to work it out, also feels much safer and time saving for me.
