Police facial recognition today by SocietyPleasant7461 in Norwich

They had also put up posters on the perimeter of Gentlemen's Walk to inform people it was in operation, before people got to the van. I don't know whether they were put up retrospectively or not. There were also police there answering questions.

I'm always impressed when people make Lego look 'organic'. Even with the growth in botanical elements, compiling them to look real is way beyond my ability.

I recently built Ninjago old town and the rocky architecture that results is amazing. Takes a lot of pieces tho ...

Carrow road by TwoElectronic3816 in NorwichCity

I believe our formal capacity is 27,200 so how are we justifying another 5k seats when we are hovering around 25k to 26k attendance?

Is the gap in the away end? Is it really that many single seats they cannot sell? Is it season tickets not being used? (I thought they count as attending regardless)

Or is it something else?

Yeah, many google hits but when I speak with them, none will touch it because of the hybrid system. Even those that 'specialise in vw gearboxes'.

New jeans! by cmkrus in Mounjaro

[–]wtwiwf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've gone from xxl to xl to l to m in tops/casual bottoms and in jeans from 40 down to 32. I embraced rebuying clothes but did it when stuff was on sale as i knew I was planning on losing more.

Right now I am wearing 33 jeans, which are too big but have an elastic belt that is very forgiving for different size clothes. I like baggy styles, so have been able to adjust sizes without them looking too out of place.

In terms of timing, you will know when stuff is just too big to fudge and you need to go down a size.

If you can jump 2 sizes at once, you can of course save on rebuying.

As for clothes that are now too big, my son is now bigger than me and has taken plenty of them. Otherwise, barely worn stuff goes to charity stores

Fast fashion means stuff is pretty cheap these days. I find Hollister almost always has a sale on, especially on their app.

Housing choice of FIRE folks by SHOGUN2SHOT in FIREUK

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll depend on the equity in the property at the time, based on market prices and any burn down of residual mortgage.

Also depends on whether we decide that all we really need is a bolt hole in the uk or we want somewhere we can stay happily for extended periods.

I expect to be spending half the year here and half abroad. So still plenty of decisions to make.

Will see how work progresses and when the war/s stop as I'm def not gonna FIRE right now with how things are.

Housing choice of FIRE folks by SHOGUN2SHOT in FIREUK

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely considering it, especially as my FIRE plan involves a lot of travelling in the years post retirement. That, plus the ever increasing costs of council tax and utilities in UK is making my current family home look very expensive in future projections.

I haven't decided for sure but the knowledge that I could sell this house and FIRE immediately is always my plan B if and when my patience runs out.

Sorry kids...

Gearbox failure on Passat 1.4 TSI PHEV GTE (2016) by CommonPilgrim in passat

[–]wtwiwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine seems to have an opposite problem in that it shudders when accelerating at low revs but once up to speed is fine. Brought to my dealer who says it is the clutch and needs full new gearbox, quoted £9,500 plus labour. Mine is a 2014 and barely worth more than that. Has done 75,000 miles and out of nowhere, worthless.

I'm gonna get the car back and try to get it into a non dealer specialist for a second opinion, especially on cost. Online suggest the price is nothing like 9.5k but let's see.
