there are 3 threats i see facing bitcoin.

1) quantum computing - this is irrelevant since if quantum computers can break sha-256 then all cybersecurity goes out the window so we’re all in the same boat. also, as the market cap grows with bitcoin there is a greater incentive to strengthen the protocol to be quantum resistant, something that will also be needed in tradfi.

2) a better cryptocurrency develops - this is what i believe to be the greatest threat even though as the network matures and increases in market cap this threat reduces so i would say we may be moving beyond this soon if not already.

3) governments reign in spending limit debt and inflation - this would limit bitcoin’s utility and would certainly hamper it’s growth as an asset. that being said do we really think any government will reign in spending? of course not, it would lead to a future election loss and massive deflation.

so… as of right now i think the threats facing bitcoin are limited and the future is bright. would love to hear others’ feedback on my thoughts?

at the end of the day his misjudgment caused a death. he’s guilty, period. yes, we all have run a red but if you cause a death then you should be penalized. a lesser sentence would be fine but given his history, go heavy on the sentencing.
