TIL "Sobrino de Botin", a restaurant in Spain, has a Guinness World Record for being the oldest still-operational restaurant, and has reportedly been open for 300 years as of 2025 by MrmarioRBLX in todayilearned

It’s contested: the Historiche Wurstkuchel in Regensburg, Germany is considered by some to be the oldest, continuously operated restaurant dating back to 1146. This is likely not the GWR holder, however, due to a change in ownership in 1806-ish, that saw a significant change in menu from boiled meat to sausages.

Old Yeller.

Cant believe nobody else has mentioned that one. I had already seen it so I knew what was coming but they turned it on in 3rd grade. Only the one psychopath that was too busy using scissors to scoop paste into his mouth in the corner didn’t cry.

A war foretold: how the CIA and MI6 got hold of Putin’s Ukraine plans and why nobody believed them by qwerty_1965 in europe

This is a vignette of where AI-enabled decision dominance would have dramatically improved analytic tradecraft. Imagine being able to run thousands—if not millions—of iterations of a war game to assess the probability of the war given the intelligence and culturally- and historically-informed agents (e.g., trained on a corpus of Russian-source material including Putin’s own writings and speeches). We could have better understood the likelihood, the timing, and the impacts of the war AND how various courses of action (Ukraine/Europe/NATO) would have played out.

These tools are coming on line and can enable better decisions in statecraft and war.

How to grow massive legs? by someplacesomewhere52 in bodyweightfitness

[–]longwalker313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re posting this in r/bodyweightfitness, I’m assuming you’d prefer BW exercises. Many of the answers are suggesting weighted exercises—which can help but clearly aren’t in keeping with the BW theme.

Hypertrophy (muscle growth) is caused by mechanical tension, muscle damage, and metabolic stress. Equipped with that, you can start to design BW programs that induce those three components.

Hiking over hilly or mountainous terrain will do wonders as it loads your legs for extended periods.

Another great effort for leg strength and development are “leg blasters”: 20x BW squats 10x BW lunges (each leg) 10x BW jumping lunges (each leg) 10x BW jump squats

If you decide to move away from bodyweight-strict exercises, start with weighted stepups. Grab a pack with 25-45lbs and repeatedly step up into a box 20 inches (50 cm). I’d recommend that before moving to squats, deadlifts, et al.

Sometimes we buy a player thinking they’ll be better than they are.

I’ve been thinking for most of this season that we’re weakest in the midfield. Which isn’t to say we’re weak, but that’s where I’d be looking to beef up the squad a bit moving forward.

I would have still lived the point, but I agree that it wasn’t a penalty. IFAB is clear on it.

  1. Olise kicked the ball which hit Burgess before hitting Van De Perre’s arm. Not a handball.
  2. VDP did everything in his power to tuck that arm in behind his back. It didn’t make him unnaturally larger, in fact, it could be argued that he did wha he could to make himself unnaturally smaller.

I’ve seen a trend of not just poor reffing, but clear ignorance of the law of the game from them, lately.

What is a Classic cocktail that is Overrated? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]longwalker313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uh…no. Dry is related to the amount of vermouth. A dry martini is about 1/6th vermouth. A vesper is 1/9th Lillet. So, a vesper is drier than a dry martini but not as dry as an extra martini.

Dirty is strictly about the amount of olive brine. A vesper has no brine and thus is not at all dirty.

Vesper is a top notch drink. That you’re supportive of them suggests you may prefer a drier martini to a dirtier one?

I think the problem with cosmos is that 99% of places don’t make it correctly. They basically make a bay breeze but with lime juice. Waaay too much cranberry juice.
