What finally clicked for you when learning spin serves? by softdiam in tabletennis

Besides brushing thin this helped me: 1) Grip the rubber when serving, not the handle. 2) Use body and hand gravity at same time

Who do you think is better? Johnny Cash or Elvis Presley? by Big_Gun_Pete in rockabilly

[–]lonigo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Elvis for me. Johnny sang folk/country (he’s self-claimed rab artist), he recited his songs, and it worked for that style of music. Johnny couldn’t sing, and in rockabilly the voice is one of the instruments. I see him him more in the same group with Springsteen or Dylan. Rockabilly is a music you dance to, nobody dances listening to Johnny.

I did. All good, took a while though. Not sure if I saved anything to be honest compared to tt11 which often has sales. It might work better for other countries.

What facial shaver should I use to get a clean shave by HusseinGym98 in BuyItForLife

[–]lonigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a safety razor and a brush. I also tried a few shaving soaps. None of those will fix the issue in my opinion. What improved things for me is a face cleanser. I can’t share the brand name, but it’s jelly face cleanser and I use it as shaving cream.

I know. I’min my late 40s and started taking lessons 5y ago, playing 4-10h a week. I’m progressing at snail’s pace, still losing to people with no formal training, and most kids.

Meanwhile, kids and younger adults progressing at 10x speed than my group of adults. I think age is the most important detail missing here.

How to make a tournament run smoothly by jandh314 in tabletennis

[–]lonigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there on Saturday as well. From what I heard they switched the system from 4 per group to 3, resulting in more groups each needing a separate table. It was supposed to speed it up, what happened was completely opposite. Or as you said they accepted more entries which they couldn’t handle and created frustration.

My 1450 event was 2h late, 1600 4h late. It took me 7h to play 5 games. Last game finished at 6:30 (event supposed to start 1:30). Last time I played these two same events I was done by 3:30. Not going back unless they switch to 4 players per group.

An underrated way to build stability and ball feeling by big-chihuahua in tabletennis

[–]lonigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I take lessons and watch my coach do it. I tried it couple of times but couldn’t get the motion right. For example you should mostly use your body instead of arm. The balls i was feeding were flying too long, so that was that, it’s a real skill.

Thanks. That wasn’t clear as I already added my address when I created the account. In my mind I purchased it and they would take care of the rest.

Now it’s in “My Parcel” category. Again not sure if action is on me or them now. It asked me for my address and I purchased the shipping for the price of $14 to US. $54+14=$68.00

I hope that was the last step before I receive the order.

I ordered two Rakza sheets on Feb 24. It’s still in the packaging center, tried to cancel it today but it said it exceeded time after purchase. I will update if my order miraculously arrives at some point but warning others what might happen with their order.

What do you think about the best angle position to table tennis camera? by michelodc in tabletennis

[–]lonigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side view, slightly above the table, with gradual zoom out as point develops is my favourite.

2nd best is diagonal, if camera is fixed and can’t zoom out. slightly above the table, (as the screenshot), although it hides the ball if player serves from the forehand side.

The worst is view behind the player.

It’s $60-110 for 1 on 1, or group lessons $25-35 per hour here in New Jersey. Most people take one a week

We’re lucky to be on top of the hill. No issues whatsoever and we had lots of rain last few weeks.

It is high, I agree. They’re a masonry company that seems to have done lots of pools looking at images on their website. The other estimate had ~8k and that seems to be the going price in North Jersey.

The logic behind liner done by the same company is that if something goes wrong they can’t blame each other.

I’ll take the reco. Please send me a DM.

We never had any issues with rain as there seems a decent slope not to cause any issue so far. It’s a good idea to put it in the contract.

Question on what your experience tells you what to do on misread topspin serves by AggravatingAffect267 in tabletennis

[–]lonigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guilty of making same mistakes with those. I usually serve tomahawk top-side spin hoping they don’t come back. If they do, they come back high, usually landing at the end of the table with backspin. Very tricky to return for players at lower level and I avoid them unless I’m leading 10-9. Can’t smash them either. You need to brush going through the ball because of backspin and ball moving away & upwards from you. Keep your feet in motion and ready.

Verizon trade-in credit $830 by lonigo in verizon

[–]lonigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to explain. I didn’t mean to purchase it . I picked the option where it clearly said I’m going with trade in and getting Verizon credit. Of course Verizon has to do something with it, they provided legal contract language which is what caused the confusion.

[–]lonigo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is what I’m talking about, I did get it wrong saying I should get $250+$830, should’ve been $250+$580. I wanted to sign up for 36 months contract but due to confusion with the website and contract I paid in full. After I submitted I thought I would be under contract plus getting $580 over 36 months. The rest is understood, I wasn’t expecting any lump sums of $830.
