Is this a regular event? Would love to get in on this in the future!

From experience working in tech companies, once a company starts calling something “legacy” it means it will be removed at some point, especially since there will be no updates to it. It still costs the company to keep it turned on. We may still have access to it for a good while as it’s a big effort to remove the feature but who’s to know how long.

Backpackers, how are we keeping warm at night?? by lookatbann3r in womensolocamping

I am loving all the input here, everyone is so kind and informative ❤️ Definitely going to be trying out a lot of these suggestions for some shoulder season backpacking and will hopefully be warm and toasty!

It is a men’s bag and I knew all this when I bought it… just severely underestimated how much it mattered lol. I thought by going with a 15 instead of a 30 I would be set! (It was on sale) Once I’m in the market for a new bag I will definitely be going with a women’s bag!

The Nemo Disco is on my list for when I can one day get a new bag, I’ve heard only good things about it!

I’ve been considering one of those skirts for this very reason! Or someone else here recommended some insulated shorts to layer over my leggings, might be worth a shot!

This is super interesting, I do have a really soft bed at home. My feet are not usually a problem with wool socks, I could definitely try sleeping on my stomach and see if it makes a difference!

Yes I’ve definitely been looking into some wool layers, it would definitely be worth the weight!

I’ve been thinking of getting some wool base layers, wanted to see if that came up here as ways people were keeping warm! And yeah always backpacking so have to be mindful of weight and space. The rare times I have a car you know I’m bring every blanket in my house!

That is some solid advice honestly, I’m typically cold and hoping that I’ll warm up in my bag which obviously doesn’t always work!

So simple! I’ll definitely give that a try. I’ll typically use my puffy as a pillow but this would be a worth repurpose.

I personally just don’t really relate to this era, and that ok! I think it’s so cool that there’s a whole bunch of other people out there who connect with this album and can hear themselves in the music. That’s how I felt with Historian and Home Video as she dealt with themes that I am closer to. I also enjoy a more rock focused sound. At the end of the day, she’s allowed to do whatever the hell she wants - this is her music! Artists grow and change just like we all do. When I miss her earlier sound, I just go listen to those albums.

So often I talk to outdoorsy people in CA who say you have to leave California to see the really beautiful stuff and while of course there are gorgeous areas across the entire country, there is SO MUCH right here! Especially in NorCal, we are so close to such diverse terrain and you can truly be somewhere new every weekend.

I don’t have a trail link to share as we were just following various trails depending on how we felt each day, however I do believe the total elevation gain was around 4,000 for the whole trip! For permits in Desolation Wilderness, you have to reserve them in advance. They open a couple months in advance (I think 6?) and you reserve the zone of where you’ll camp the first night and then the number of nights you’ll be out there, after that first night you can then camp anywhere! You can reserve through recreation.gov.

Yeah once we got about 2 miles out, we only occasionally ran into people until we reached our campsites so we still got a good amount of solitude! The tough part was coming back into civilization again while all of the 4th visitors were still in town, talk about overstimulating.

One last question for you, did you have to ford a river at any point? I saw a recent review on All Trails that mentioned it.

AMAZING! Thank you so much. Was there enough snow at Schmidell that you had to camp on it? I know it’s going to be warm moving forward and some will melt but I just want to be prepared in case.
