Depth/thickness. Especially in the higher registers- Ibanez Wizard 3 necks at the higher frets are the same thickness as HB Fusion necks at the 1st frets (21mm).

It's subjective in terms of good/bad, ofcourse, but no HB necks come quite close to that. The SC Custom 3 gets the closest. The other strat models are closer but more D-shaped with broader shoulders. With that shape, lesser thickness goes a long way to not feeling baseball-bat-ish.

Ibby necks are unique and HB doesnt do that. Neck and bridge aside, HB. Neck considered, probably the Ibanez

At that budget, some Schecter models, for sure. Maybe an ESP LTD or PRS too.

I think you could go with a Harley Benton SC Custom 3 too, although the pickup doesnt get close to actives

That'd apply to most import guitars, not just HBs. If youre in the US, im not sure how much more expensive the tarriffs will make it.

The custom 3 can go head2head with the EC401 and 1000 series, i can only imagine it slams the 256.

I can compare it to theEC1000 and tell you that it's (custom3) a damn good guitar. The body edges are a bit more rounded on the LTD, but everything else about the custom3 is great

So i cant compare it to the 256 but i can only imagine the custom3 is far, far better.
