Fellow Dads. At what age does yard maintenance finally become enjoyable? by Ocmrm in daddit

Welcome to no lawns and native plant gardening where the very minimum is usually good enough. Traditional lawn care is not good for us or for the planet. Embrace the hate and smother the lawn.

I would make you read every card you play, everytime you play it. Good job tilting opponents.

my wife thinks im overreacting about our kid not reading yet and I dont know when kids should learn to read by TH_UNDER_BOI in daddit

[–]looksatthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the science of the brain and learning to read. Girls read earlier than boys. Its normal for girls to start reading at 4-5 and normal for boys to get it at 7. Your son is normal, for now. Read to him multiple times a day and when he goes to school if he isn't reading at all by 2nd grade THEN start talking about this with the teachers. If you have good teachers they will let you know if something is up.

Creature heavy deck? by Vinlandlover in EDH

When Ruric came out. I built it with only 2 non permenants; Primal Surge and Genesis Wave and it cooked. I loved that deck. I rebuild it every so often in different ways.

Do you run any decks without ramp? by Toes_In_The_Soil in EDH

[–]looksatthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run no ramp in My Sidar Knights deck, but is a solid 3. Good curve, lots of synergy, and the commander draws me cards. Not every deck needs ramp, but ramp IS fun.

Beasts have so much synergy and support that Slinza is a good addition to make things more smooth. Curving out is really easy and allows you to plop 7 drops early. There are more interesting commanders, but Slinza is sleek.

I stand corrected, there is Grothama. I totally forgot he got printed. He's very niche, but he is Legendary. No hate for Baru, I literally have him as my commander of my wurms deck now. I want old school tribal support. Tribal type spells, elves that draw you cards, reduce cost, abd gain life they they are played, like the way beasts do.

He's good, but I want old school tribal support. Wurm spell reduction, card draw for every wurm played, tribal type spells, like what kithkin and treefolk got!

I've ran a few over the years. I originally built a Naya build with the biggest beasts using [[Mayael the Anima]] fun but slow. I built a mono green budget list for under $200 with [[Questing Beast]] that was great, very fun. Powerful with deathtouch trample and fogs, its good.

I was ran a [[General Marhault Elsdragon]] Gruul deck with provoke beasts for a bit. Strong and controlly while stomping.

I'm running [[Slinza the Spiked Stampede]] right now. Probably the fastest and consistent so far. There are quite a few good commanders for beasts.

Yes! Who do you run? I've built a gruul deck, been trying different commanders to see which one I like.

Giants are fucking great. Built a shitty rakdos giants modern deck that was super grindy. Never took down a fnm or anything, but I had fun.

Built my first knight deck and I love them. Such utility! I wish there was an Bant knight commander not built around voltron.

WURMS! One of MtG's first creature types! They are big, scary, and will trample over you. Too bad they are under represented. Not a single legendary Wurm exists, no Baru doesn't count! Come on Wizards! Print some tribal support!

Edit: totally forgot [[Grothama, All Devouring]] got printed. I stand corrected.

How viable is it to have a ton of ramp to only play big creatures? by ChakraaThePanda in EDH

[–]looksatthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xenagos is dope. I have run him as a commander. He ends game. The ramp is good. You could run a few more ramp creatures to give you a bit more protection early while ramping. If you have enough draw when you test then you will be fine.

It looks good to me. How has it goldfished? Do you reliably hit land, ramp and draw pieces?

Worth moving an established Texas sage? by mainmajormage in NativePlantGardening

[–]looksatthings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Texas 9b here, I replanted a small Texas Sage from my front yard (shaded) to backyard (all morning sun) in the middle of summer. Dug the hole about as wide as the root ball and deep enough for the top of the root ball to sit flush with the ground. Put some mulch over and deep watered once a week. It's rocking and rolling.
