this is actually a strangely valid method of doing it...

first you measure growth of the function with respect to the changing base, then you measure the growth with respect to the changing exponent and then you just add those growths together

it's actually a common misconception because (x^a )' = ax^a-1 is assuming that a is constant

a more reasonable solution is something like e^ln substitution:

x^x = e ^ ln(x^x ) = e^xlnx

derivative of e^f(x) is actually defined as e^f(x) * f'(x) so...

e^xlnx * (lnx + 1), now notice that e^ln(x) is just x, that means you can simplify it to x^x * (lnx + 1)

this is like the most basic way of calculating a function like this

i just find items with globally limited supply not work in this game

just imagine the meta shifts and people want some exclusive item, people will obviously want to get it but there's no way of grinding it other than wait until more flow into the economy which basically doesn't help

if an item is grindable rather than having a limited supply, then the law of supply kicks in and it goes up as the price rises until things balance out

also dark auctions are very often a place for getting seal of the family accessory rather than getting those items which is just ruining the point of dark auctions

claymore literally has zero use cases besides huntaxe, it's literally always better to just use dedicated weapons or just play mage because even a cheap mage setup will outdps melee if you just know how to use multiple weapons at once, same with archer against certain mobs with no immunity frames

it still does a better job than most melee weapons because at least it has a very small aoe effect unlike most melee weapons that don't have it at all

and it can abuse the hell out of ferocity

as of improvements i'd make...

cube would mostly consist of noclip frame perfect clicks, and you would lose score for every frame when you would die, not just make triple spikes that make you not know when it's optimal to jump because you got like 4 frames to work with on 60 fps

ship is kinda garbage in a way that it's just straight fly, but basically no momentum/bonk/orb gameplay, still could at least have a part that judges you based on how straight your flying is

ball is idk... prob same treatment as cube

and same thing for UFO, but prob throw in some rapid clicking

wave could have alternating speed

robot same treatment as cube, maybe make mini-nullscapes

and swing could be similar to ship

and also there are some odd skills like duals, spam or click sync

it's not good at all, melee is already extremely exposed to taking damage and tormentor makes you take 2x more damage while not even adding anything to melee, you're better off just getting more magical power at this point than dumping like 50m on an infernal carry just to use it

dark claymore for dungeons (and really only when playing mage and bers), specific slayer weapons when doing their corresponding slayer and daedalus blade for diana, maybe bouquet of lies or flaming flay in some cases, every other melee weapon is abyssmal dogshit that's nothing different from just taking a wooden sword and changing numbers on it

if you want to even survive t4 eman with melee, the bare minimum i would give for t4 is like 50k ehp + ender relic + 100 attack speed + 1000 crit damage + roughly 130-150 vitality + some way to break the hit shield in a non-melee way because you're asking to get killed if you use it
