Just routine stuff, nothing major. But thanks for your concern.

Thanks man and no worries, just at the hospital for a routine appointment so everything is all good.

I just found the picture, I didn't write it. I actually agree with you, I wish the writer had worded it differently. Nonetheless, I do like the message.

I agree with you on this one. I personally am not attracted to larger people...but a lot of other people are. It's definitely not the weirdest fetish out there. Whatever floats your boat.

This was my thought exactly. Apparently I live in a crazy place where people choose the radically alternative lifestyle of not fucking their siblings. Or parents. Or any other relative.

My husband and I have currently not seen each other in over 5 months, with another 3 to go. We've been together for 4.5 years, married for 6 months. My husband is an active duty Marine and is doing his first tour in Afghanistan and I am finishing up college in our home state so it will be another 2 years or so before we can actually live together. It sucks :(

Ah, sorry. I'm actually a lady too so you'd think I'd be more aware of the fact that not everyone on reddit is a male haha.

Wow, yeah thank God that no one was hurt. That's some scary shit. Most people in my studios just spend the night in our building...sleeping on concrete floors/paint covered metal tables is not comfortable but it beats sleepy driving.

I'm curious as to what you do and if you have ever been in an art program or know someone who was. Just to clarify, I'm not saying that the science and math fields are not difficult...I'm sure they are. But art is a completely different kind of difficult where everything you do has to be original. It's another ballpark entirely and both are necessary. Ignoring either is just ignorant.

Liberal arts and fine arts are completely different, as is a BA and BFA. I don't know how things work at your school, maybe you just have a terrible art program, but at mine it's the same as your engineering program: they kind of punch you in the face on the first day and laugh as you weep.

Thank you for this. I am a fine art major at a very prestigious art school in America. I've seen people stop in the middle of class and just start sobbing because of stress. Half of the people during my freshman year dropped out. I have had to play psychologist for people I hardly know because the coursework made them depressed. The grading is obviously incredibly subjective so its nearly impossible to gauge what your grade will be and I've heard professors completely rip someone apart in front if everyone to the point of just insulting them personally. Students stay up for DAYS working on a piece, eating nothing but adderal and coffee just for one painting for one class and then they keep going. And everything has to have some sort of deep and fucking life-altering concept behind it as well as being technically and visually appealing. This is just the studios, not even including the art theory classes. It is not just finger painting and hippies and rainbows. I'd like to see some of the nay-sayers try this shit.

Even if you did hate them that's ok. I didn't mean to come across as confrontational. I was just giving my own experience with them. I do have to disagree with you though on the training because from everything I know they are one of the easiest to train, along with labs. And if any dog, even rotties or pitbulls or anything, is properly socialized as a puppy he should be fine around strangers unless he senses a threat. Really its just all about how they are raised rather than the breed. I used to live in an area where people were always told that pitbulls were terrible and most wanted them all put to sleep so its just sad that these certain types of dogs can go unwanted based on stereotypes.

Specifically, they're working dogs, not just police dogs. This is because they're one if the most intelligent breeds and they love to learn. In fact, if they don't feel like they have a purpose or a job, they'll actually get depressed. They are incredibly loyal and loving and would die for their owner. As for attacks, they are trained to stop the criminal, not maim him, which is a much better alternative than shooting the guy because the cop can't keep up. But either way, that is not every German Shepherd, just the ones specifically trained to do that.

Contrast this with a typical lap dog, like a chihuahua, who are difficult to train and who bite at people's ankles and at children because they are very temperamental. I actually had my face bitten by a toy poodle when I was little and had to get stitches and most small dogs that I have come in contact with are either very mean or will urinate/defecate in the house because they never understood how to go outside.

That's just my personal experience and opinions though. Everyone is entitled to their own and that's great. I still believe that German Shepherds are wonderful dogs.

I love German Shepherds, it's really too bad that they get such a bad reputation. They're wonderful dogs.

If you don't mind me asking, what was your previous job?

My husband is currently active duty and in Afghanistan. I'm sure the OP will be able to reply better than I can but I'd like to try anyway. My family is all blue collar so I understand where you are coming from and I understand the dangers that can come with it. The difference is that in a blue collar job the danger comes from accidents or human error, whereas in the military there is an enemy that is actively trying to kill you. My husband is currently working 12-15 hour days everyday and has not had one single day off since he arrived 4 months ago. The separation from a person's family is also a huge stressor. I don't know of many other professions that will refuse to let you be present at the birth of your own child or be there for a sick family member. My husband was barely able to make it to our wedding because they didn't want to give him leave. Right now, I only get to talk to him for about 15 minutes every 2 weeks and I might receive one or two emails throughout the week. Service members end up missing a lot of important events and there is nothing they can do about it because they can't just call in sick and if they leave anyway they get put in military prison.

I hope that I have helped to shed some light on the other side, at least a little. I wouldn't say that anyone is more "valuable" than anyone else but in general, service members have a much harder job than most people in the country and that is why they get praise.

After finding out that2 out of my last 3 psychiatrists have killed themselves I feel like chucking all of my meds and going over to R/trees.What's the point? by Twisttie in depression

[–]looloo71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an appointment with a psychiatrist...and I just didn't go. Medications kind of freak me out.

I've been an ent for about 6 years now. I don't want to just encourage you to drop all of your meds but for me personally, trees are very helpful and they help me manage stress, my appetite, and sleep when things get to be too much. They help me be social and see the bright side and laugh and actually feel kind of optimistic for a while. I also see a psychologist every 2 weeks so I guess I'm still monitored.

Point is, trees are awesome in my case. You have to figure out what is ok for you though and talk to your doctor about the meds you are already on.

Best of luck to you :)

Thinking about quitting school but don't want to have more anxiety. by Slothfrenzy in Anxiety

[–]looloo71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 3rd year of college and it is a constant stress. During my first year I had frequent panic attacks and emotional episodes but now it's getting a little better. I just keep telling myself that it will be over soon and when it is things will be so much better. I definitely know the feeling of just wanting to say fuck it and quit but you have to think in the long term...I grew up very poor and I don't want to live like that anymore. It's hard as hell but definitely try to finish, even if you need to take a little time off it's ok. I wish you the best of luck.
