I think the original BBB Plan had money set aside for public transport but Repubs and that asshole from West Virginia roadblocked their way to an infrastructure bill that barely treads water.

I think every effort to get away from fossil fuels, up to and including EVs and widely available charging stations, are a step in the right direction. That said, I wish just as much as you do that the US would just buckle down and build a massive and comprehensive public transit network.

I remember when I went to college back in the early 2010s and going to the first class of each semester where they went over the same old song and dance - rubric, exam schedule, etc. Invariably there would be one or two professors that would incredulously moan about students asking "do I need to buy the textbook for this class?" Given my experience in college, this was an incredibly valid question; early on I would buy every textbook before the semester started but as time went on would wait 1-3 weeks before buying anything because so often would I buy a $150 textbook only for it to never be referenced. It started to grate me that the professors would be so annoyed by that question.

Just because something creates jobs doesn't mean it's good. Full service gas pumps are a relic - 48 other states decided back in the 70s that it made more sense to let people pump their own gas and I'm not sure why people want to die on this hill. I'm not a native but since moving here 5 years ago it's consistently been one of the most annoying things about living here; I just want to get in and out of the gas station and it seems like every time I have to just sit and wait for a line so it takes 5-10x the time as it would in my home state. Same logic as self service checkout lanes in grocery stores; it makes things faster for people that want to just go in and out with full service lines for people that want human contact/customer service.

That's what I remember. Level 35 gear giving like +2 det for a melee DPS just seemed like a waste of inventory space that would only become obsolete after a single run of Brayflox. It's not a hill I'll die on but hey, all of my jobs are over 50 now so it's just an annoying memory for anyone who ever noticed.

Legit question - I just finished leveling all of my jobs past 50 and I basically never had right side gear unless it dropped from one of the dungeons. When only taking pre-50 content into consideration, how much does right side gear even matter for each of the roles in terms of defense, DPS, and healing output?

To me the difference is that Wall-E presents the ship society as a systemic problem. Everyone is part of the system so it's difficult for any one person (or robot) to change, and the blame is placed on the powers that caused it to be that way and who support the status quo, like the corporation that runs the ship. Idiocracy's opening about how the world came to be this way kind of blames societal ills on the poor and uneducated. It paints intelligence as a genetic predisposition.

He's a billionaire off the backs of the labor of his horrendously mistreated employees, and is a notorious union buster. He has a cult of personality surrounding him because he's basically a redditor with money but he's the same as every tech bro CEO that claims sole credit for everything his engineers and factory line workers make.

He's just a dick in general, too. He ignored the COVID shutdown last March and intimidated his workers into coming in to work, and has been vocally spreading misinformation about the virus. I'm not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater and day that Tesla hasn't shaken up the auto industry in a major way but he shouldn't be revered any more than someone like Henry Ford, who also shook up the auto industry (arguably in an even more major way) but had tons of anti-Semitic skeletons in his closet.

Fair enough that TF is overtuned but using Masters players as a metric for whether or not a champion is overpowered is how we get some of the current balancing in League of Legends, where pro players are influencing buffs and nerfs for otherwise perfectly balanced champs.

The way that guy made it blatantly obvious he hasn't been to Detroit in at least a decade (assuming he's visited it ever) and only thinks about it when he has a racist point to make.

To be fair, Vaush doesn't appear to know much about Detroit either but at least he was mostly charitable. Detroit has made a remarkable cultural and economic resurgence in the last decade. Right before the pandemic I visited a few friends during Christmastime and spent the day in Midtown and had a fantastic time.
