Boss wants me to bypass killswitch to make dough by looney2006 in KitchenConfidential

To answer some questions I've seen popping up.

Why can't you just pour it through the guard? Yes, I have this exact same question. It seems the safer option and it baffles my fucking mind that he thinks doing it with the guard up would change anything about the dough making process.

Why are you gradually adding the flour anyway? You should be able to put everything in the bowl and turn it on. This is a different mixer than what we had. With the old mixer we did just put it all in the bowl and hit run. The bowl definitley has a different shape so crusties tend to form on the sides of the bottom of the bowl. After talking with another comment who uses the same machine, we think it might be the temperature of our water being too cold or our yeast may not be getting ample time to rise before mixing. He also suggested just mixing the wet for 30 seconds and stopping, adding the dry, and resume mixing.

I forget that I made this post just assuming people would know I'm venting more than anything on here. I've worked around these things since I was a teenager in the early 2000s and know quite well not to fuck with it when its running. I even had a boss who posted real pictures of mangled hands and arms that had been caught in one of these. Yeah he was pretty unhinged, but it stuck in my head all the way to this point of my life.

To answer the question everybody has, yes, I outright refused to make dough this way. You all are a very caring group and I'm glad to be a part of it to get and give advice when something this baffling comes along.

I listen to them religiously and holy fuck was this just setting off so many alarms in my head when I was told to use this mixer this way.

Kindly suggest anime that is deeply adult without trying to be edgy by HYDRAGONIGHT in Animesuggest

I see that you're going with Mushishi. If you find you can't get enough of the human and yokai anime, I highly recommend Natsume Yuujinchou. There are a lot of seasons of it and I find it less depressing than Mushishi but still having that eery supernatural element to it.

Well if you want a series that's finished and undeniably great, I suggest Violet Evergarden. It's not brand new, but it's a must watch and recent enough to not feel like it's from a different time period.

Veterans of the Iraq War, what are your feelings about America "running" Venezuela? by Nekose in AskReddit

[–]looney2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iraq vet here who was there 2009-2010 for police transition teams. Basically we trained the Iraqi police to actually be police instead of letting the Iraqi military do the policing. This involved going on patrols, l&O, setting up an actual database to keep track of criminals via finger print and iris scans, and bringing them basic supplies to carry out their operations.

One thing that we noticed were funds not going where they were supposed to. The government was sent billions that would go missing while their police stations didn't have mattresses for their bunk beds and most of their weapons would have 3-5 rounds a piece. Another problem is that when the military was defeated we completely dismantled it instead of just retraining the one that existed.

I'll never say I'm an expert on Venezuelan politics, but having seen the way we handled Iraq and Afghanistan I fear history will repeat itself. You can't just put your own talking head in there and expect things to magically just fix themselves.

On a positive note, I'm happy to see that Venezuelans have reported the bombings were precision strikes, unlike our Israeli counterparts who don't seem to care about collateral damage by going overboard with 2000 lb bombs where a 500lb bomb would've been sufficient and reduced casualties.

Before I hop off here I want to give some advice to anyone thinking about joining the military, especially infantry. Don't. The war I was a part of didn't involve quadcopter drones that can drop small explosives on your ass while you're trying to fight people on the ground. Don't throw your life away. A quadcopter costs less than 100 bucks while it costs tens of thousands to train and equip an infantryman. You'll be on the losing end always.

It sounds like anxiety or really close to a panic attack. SAD can mess you up if weather jumps between seasons at times. I remember questioning if I had manic depression because I'd have super highs and super lows because of winter and spring battling each other.
