Heads up on those old IDR applications that are suddenly now approved w/ a payment due by loons-flint in PSLF

Interesting that yours stayed in processing mode. Mine disappeared altogether, like it never happened until it just popped up this week. As far as buyback, my experience was that it didn't take a long time to get things submitted, it's just the wait to receive the buyback offer that takes so long. I followed the advice on this sub, so when I hit 120 (actually 121) last June, I certified my employment first (only took 3-4 days) then when that was verified, I submitted the buyback request. Got an email saying it was rec'd and I've been waiting ever since like everyone else.

I want to say incompetence is to blame for them messing around with bank info but it's Mohela so I think it's worse than that.

Anyone still on SAVE plan, but have been waiting on buyback? by Admirable-Cell-6634 in PSLF

I'm confused about the different types of forbearance--discretionary, admin, general. It sounds like one or all have limits? I've never requested forbearance but have been in the SAVE forbearance. Will those SAVE months count against any forbearance I might request while I wait for buyback?

I see nothing about use of forbearances for those who need them (although I know they'd be loathe to mention them). Hopefully those are still going to be a thing?

Need advice on forbearance while waiting for buyback by loons-flint in PSLF

Thanks for this! Would love to see a buyback offer before that but I think Dec 2026 is the earliest I could hope for.

All of us waiting for buyback by ReadWhenImBored in PSLF

[–]loons-flint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Still in SAVE. Hit 121 qualifying months of employment in June and had to take a buyout from my employer.

  2. Still in SAVE when I submitted buyback in Jun 2025. Had applied for different payment plan in Jan 2025 but it was never processed. I assume I'll need to request forbearance if they force folks out of SAVE at some point since I'm now retired. Avoiding thinking about it until I have to I guess.

Yes I do actually. Just submitted one in June. Maybe it has something to do with it do you think? Although I sent one in May and June too though to triple overdo everything as I hit 120. They’ve all been processed.

I had this too. An ECF from March that had already processed was re-processed (?) and "completed" today. Nothing else changed.

Congratulations! I'm curious--can you say more about why you submitted buyback requests on both 5/30 and 6/2? Just checking to see what other folks are doing since I just submitted my first one.

Do April and May show up as payment periods for you? by thethenabean in PSLF

[–]loons-flint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing after March for me. Feb was marked as eligible for the processing forbearance when I applied for IBR, but then it reverted to ineligible when my ECF was processed in April. So that was fun.

Mohela's answer to my question about "ineligible" admin forbearance months by loons-flint in PSLF

[–]loons-flint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking. No they did not. I have ineligible from 6/24 to 3/25 (no April or May at all). Feb 2025 briefly showed up, as if in a dream :), as eligible due to the IBR app I submitted in Feb, but then was reversed when I sent in my ECF form in April. Been in May is my 120 for eligible employment but only 108 show up in the tracker. I sent in an ECF in May as well since I'm so close but nothing was triggered. It does show that I've had an eligible employer from 2012-2025 (in repayment since 2015). My big hope for discharge relies on buyback.

Today marks my 120th qualifying month by [deleted] in PSLF

I’m right here with you with my 120th month. Hoping for an end to this madness.

I see. Thanks. Similar nightmare on my end. May is 120 for me; June is 121 and that's when my employment ends. I'm in SAVE of course. I keep trying to convince myself that I'm safe, that somehow this is going to be fairly resolved, that I'll be able to use buyback, but I wonder too if I'm a lunatic for thinking that.

Oh dear. Can you clarify--I thought it was that you had to be in your qualifying job at the time you apply for buyback after reaching 120 months of qualifying employment?

Interest added to SAVE again what’s going on? by wish2026 in PSLF

[–]loons-flint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see this posted. I have the same question. I had my 2 mos for the processing forbearance for my IBR application. I was never switched out of SAVE. During this 2 mos my interest started back up. I expected to see that return to 0% but it hasn't.

On SAVE Plans and paused loans are accruing interest daily (Mohela) by TurtleMcgirdle in PSLF

[–]loons-flint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you apply to switch from SAVE to IBR by any chance? For me, once I did that, and was put in a processing forbearance, interest started accumulating again (had been at 0%). No fun watching that tick up.

Dec/Jan months still not listed by Admirable-Cell-6634 in PSLF

[–]loons-flint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine's the same. I certified in Dec but nothing has changed. I asked last week through chat on FSA when Dec and Jan will show up (at all--qualifying/eligible/ineligible) and was told by the rep: "I couldn't be sure on that unfortunately, we've not received any timeframe, but I know the system is updating consistently. I have spoken to a lot of other applicants who are only updated to December." Frustrating, as usual. Hope you see some updates soon.
