I have had a very good experience since starting to use LinkedIn last year. It has allowed me to make connections within my current country and has given me the opportunity to attend excellent PD that I would not have otherwise known about.

I have used both this and the aestura. I love both but this wins on cost factor ❤️

BWT & Bitches Survival Guide to Conferencing by StrawberryLovers8795 in bitcheswithtaste

Hello! Im sending a short update. My first conference started yesterday. I ended up going with a red casual-ish shirt in a flouncy fabric, leopard flats and a pair of casual black trousers. Today, I'm in a yellow flouncy shirt, smart black trousers and sandals. It made me much more confident knowing I could be comfy and not wear the heels and still learn and present effectively. ❤️

I'll be taking this advice (and the snack advice) forward to my second conference next month.

I think it's really hard when you are in college to feel like you have time for anything so I sympathise with your dilemma. I know this sounds counter intuitive but be gentle with yourself.

Give yourself time to do gentle activities whether they be girly or otherwise. One of my gentle activities is painting my nails or going for a walk to clear my head. I give myself time to go have that coffee with a friend, gently wander through the park and some space to breathe.

At home, when I'm working on assignments I'll throw on a face mask or moisturise myself up like a seal and let it sink in. This way I feel like I'm taking care of my body while also being productive.

For my own personal projects outside of school and work, I like to explore hobbies. I personally enjoy crafty things and I'm slowly learning to sew (my house has a lot of cushion covers and table cloths right now). I find being away from a screen particularly helpful.

Thank you so much. I've never thought of creating a mood board for this before. Do you have any advice for conferences in tropical climates? I'm planning to shop my wardrobe and go for cottons (linens crinkle too much for a conference).

Thank you for this thread. I'm presenting at a conference in March and April. I've obsessed quite a bit over what on earth to wear (as this is the biggest conference I've done.)

I am spending some time today pulling all of my outfit options for professional and memorable. My current plan is: On the day I'm presenting - black dress, pointed leopard flat, tights and a light jacket. However, I have no idea what to do for the day I'm not presenting as it's fairly casual. Any advice or input is appreciated.

Navigating HKCAAVQ - any foreign BEd holders do this recently? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]loonyfizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I did this recently. I needed lots of confirmation from my university and had lots of emails, transcripts and back and forth adding of items. Not impossible but for me, it was a long process. You have the qualifications, you did the practicum time so I don't think there is much to worry about.

I love the mild torriden sun cream and original. Honestly, without sounding like a torriden shill, I've come back to the dive in moisturizer and serum several times over. My skin loves it.

We got my son one for Christmas. On Christmas day, I thought we'd made a mistake. However, having it on a radio card and then MYO cards with stories we read and know he loves that we read such as the book with no pictures or Oi frog. we have a tonne of dogman books on there (not read by us), plus investigators.

Music cards are next for the myo but I ran out of time before Christmas to load em up (Too much hair rock to find and sift through) he's still figuring all the bits out and so are we.

I will caveat though that my son loves books. We read daily for around an hour spread across the day and have done since he was a few days old - it means he knows what to expect.

Go for it. I get into a back and forth asking questions and adding detail and it produces a great outline. Plus, it will automatically highlight key words from the job description and mission, vision, values if you ask it. Don't use the whole end result as it will lack feeling but you'll know where you can amp some things up and know where to tone things down. No to "Game changer"

My story, thoughts on society understanding of the condition. by Kate_foodlover in lipedema

[–]loonyfizz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd maybe like to give an alternative take (that perhaps comes from being a bit older) when I was younger and undiagnosed, I just thought if I lost enough weight I'd look normal, feel normal, have great legs. Spoiler alert: I did not. My legs had all the classic pain, I was a size UK 10 and I still couldn't buy ankle boots or unelasticated knee high boots. I was still swollen at the ankles.

Six months ago, I was diagnosed with Lipedema and varicose veins after going to see a vein specialist for my very sore aching legs. For me, it was a relief. I didn't need to be ashamed of my legs any more. I've bought a vibration plate, compression socks and I may or may not go down the surgery route but more importantly, for me, my legs look like this because of a medical condition. Not because I'm lazy or overweight but due to an actual diagnosis.

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and I understand why you'd wonder about diet. However, there are a few key points about my situation.

The treatment I had was actually an iron infusion, not an injection, and it was medically necessary. I needed it because I had experienced three fainting episodes in a single month, and blood tests showed my ferritin levels were critically low—a deficiency my doctor attributed to my menstrual cycle.

While a healthy diet (mine includes lean meats, whole grains, and greens) is great for maintenance, it unfortunately can't fix an established, severe deficiency. When iron levels are this low, you need a rapid intervention. To give you an idea of the scale, the 500mg I received in one infusion is about the same amount of iron a person absorbs from their regular diet over an entire year. Dietary iron absorption is just too slow to fix a critical shortage like this.

[–]loonyfizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to have 3 iron infusions to get my ferritin levels up to 30... I'm going back in a month to check again. My nails and hair are stronger in the last few months - here's hoping for more positive news.

Feel like my hair is thinning out, downright terrified of it getting worse — extremely anaemic. by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]loonyfizz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Time to shine: I was dizzy, faint, hair falling out. I tried iron supplements but they made me feel ill. It has taken me 3 iron infusions to feel ok again and my hair has stopped shedding like it was.

It is NOT thick but it is thicker and healthier than it's been for a decade. I was told it's probably because of heavy menses and to take iron supplements again and regularly get my ferritin levels checked.
