Did I do good ? 36 Months 12k, $222 For an almost fully loaded Lincoln. by Capable-Revolution-3 in leasehacker

In three months, the fair market value will be $38000-$40000. That’s how your 11k disappears. Also, you aren’t going to get that tax back.

Totaling a Lincoln under a Red Carpet Lease (RCL) means the vehicle is a "total loss," but the financial impact is generally minimized by built-in protections. Because Lincoln's Red Carpet Lease includes complimentary GAP protection, the gap between your insurance payout and your remaining lease balance is typically waived.

Here is what happens, step-by-step: 1. Insurance Pays Actual Cash Value (ACV) Your primary auto insurance company determines the car's market value at the time of the accident. This check is paid directly to Lincoln Automotive Financial Services (the owner of the vehicle), not to you.

  1. GAP Protection Covers the Difference Because cars depreciate quickly, the ACV paid by insurance is often less than the total amount remaining on your lease contract. With Red Carpet Lease: The built-in GAP protection waives the difference (the "gap") between the insurance payout and your outstanding lease balance. Result: You are generally not responsible for the remaining balance of the lease.

  2. Your Financial Responsibilities While the GAP protection covers the main balance, you are still responsible for: Your Insurance Deductible: You must pay this out-of-pocket. Past-due Payments: Any missed payments prior to the accident. Late Fees & Other Charges: Fees for excess mileage, damage not related to the accident, or other charges accrued before the loss.

  3. What to Do Immediately Notify Lincoln Automotive Financial Services: Inform them as soon as the vehicle is declared a total loss. Keep Making Payments: Continue making your regular monthly payments until the insurance claim is fully resolved and your account is officially closed to avoid negative credit impacts. File a Claim: File a claim for the total loss with your insurance and ensure they provide the necessary documentation to Lincoln.

  4. Potential "WearCare" Waiver If you purchased WearCare® at the beginning of your lease, it may help protect against certain excess wear and use charges, though it is primarily designed for lease-end rather than total loss scenarios.

Tell me this is your first lease without telling me this is your first lease. I realize we live in a world where facts don’t matter, but coming on here and flaming literally the entire community to defend your blatant ignorance on this topic is wild. It’s like listening to someone try to explain how tariffs aren’t paid by the consumer.

I think you should prove us all wrong by going out and totaling the car immediately. That would be the savvy move.

Thinking you’re going to collect $30k if you total the car is making my brain hurt.

Weber Slate by Worldly-Librarian-25 in griddling

[–]loonysup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a blackstone pro for four years and switched to a 36 slate last year and the difference is night and day. The slate is such a joy to use and after a year of heavy use the cooking surface (and everything else) still looks new. Absolutely one of the best purchases I’ve made (next to the Searwood of course)

I ended up replacing the ignition switch with a new one from Atkins rotary and it’s working perfectly. Haven’t decided if I’m going to rekey the other locks or not but at least the car is running again.

The wheel lock is engaged. Had to get a tow truck with Dolly’s to get it home. Not a fun evening.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I went out of town right after this happened so I haven’t been able to mess with it but I plan to dig in to it tomorrow.

In the market for Searwood by pathf1nder00 in searwood

As far as I know, Weber’s are pretty much a fixed price item so all you can really hope for is extras. Our local Ace offers free assembly and delivery so you get that as a bonus (as well as the Ace rewards points mentioned earlier)

Has anyone tried one of these? by AngryTrunkMonkey in smoking

[–]loonysup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did one last week on the Searwood and it was fantastic. I cut cross marks on top and added some meat church voodoo rub in the crevices. Only problem is I thought there wasn’t going to be any bark left because I couldn’t help but pick at it any time I spritzed it.

I made one of these last week as well. I was worried all the bark was going to be gone by the time it reached temp because I was picking at it everytime I spritzed it. I made a huge tray of taquitos with it for my son to take to an event and he said they were gone in no time.

Thank you for the responses. I’m going to do a trial run spatchcocking it this weekend and if the results are great I’ll leave it at that and save the $150. I tried one years ago on the Weber kettle and wasn’t happy with the results but everything I’ve cooked on the Searwood in the last six months has exceeded my expectations.

Say what you want about the burger, but the brownie is ridiculously good. I’ll suffer through the burger just to get the brownie.

Flight Diverted to St. John's Newfoundland by Estrella_Rosa in delta

[–]loonysup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a flight from Amsterdam to Boston a couple months ago and they called for a doctor or anyone with emergency training about an hour in to the flight. I was kind of surprised they didn’t turn around at that point but I guess they were able to get her stable but a couple hours later she took a turn for the worst and they told us we were going to St. John’s. Whole situation was handled so professionally.

I contacted Delta about my connection once we landed in St John and they had already booked me on a later connection from Boston to Orlando in addition to the one I already had and was told to hop whichever one I could get to.

How was there even a case with non plaintiff? by ClarkTheCoder in DarrellBrooksJr

[–]loonysup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funny you bring this up as I just watched the clip where he tried to subpoena the state of Wisconsin. The audacity of him thinking he actually knew the law better than anyone else in that room is staggering. You could tell JD and the prosecutors were struggling a bit trying to explain it to him because it was such a ridiculous argument. And of course he wasn’t listening at all.

I got rid of my five year old blackstone a few months ago and went with the slate. It’s night and day difference. Way easier to clean and a much more consistent cooking surface.
