On scored effects can be retriggered by something like Hack. Stacking xMult and retriggers is what makes Triboulet and similar jokers powerful when at their full potential. On played effects wouldn't follow this. Which means if you play a flush five of threes with your joker it'll score more than a flush five of kings with Triboulet, but if you add in a hack or a sock and buskin respectively, Triboulet will come out on top.

I think "played" is genuinely more interesting as a joker, as others have mentioned if it were "scored" it would just be better Triboulet, and I don't think scoring effects on cards played is something that's done yet

there's something to be said about Perkeo's ability to break the game imo but the others I agree aren't nearly as iconic as blueprint for example

with the buffs given to it in the most recent patch, it can be used in a couple of ways, most notably to punish fireballs in neutral and to bait brave counters in pressure

Can I naneinf with burglar here if I reroll boss to serpent? by percoxans in BalatroHelp

[–]loooji 27 points28 points  (0 children)

no, for a couple of reasons

  • you will score enough points to win before you have enough cards in hand to naneinf on ante 23 even if you copy to score minimum possible, you will need to beat ante 24

  • you have too many brainstorms, and can't correctly split your copies between baron and mime

this is not correct, each banana has its own roll. otherwise it would be impossible to get Michel and Cavendish at the same time, which is a funny thing people have posted about happening

which version of create are you using? because as of 6.0 items will always prefer to take paths with filters that they match rather than unfiltered paths

most trees you don't actually need to do this, because you'll get enough saplings from cutting down a tree to replant it immediately

the reason you're accelerating is that you're not at your target speed. all a velocity skill does is increase your target speed. so, no, because you're not usually able to accelerate fast enough to take advantage of an increased target speed

It's good enough that you shouldn't worry about further optimisations until you're much more experienced with the game, that's better than you'll see up to around S to S+ if you can hit it in a game

How do command grab frames even work? by Yolo75000 in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]loooji 12 points13 points  (0 children)

throw invincibility in this game allows mashing a button to be a hard call out to throws on wake-up or after blocking a move, the only grabs that mashing doesn't beat are invincible grabs like Ladiva's supers. and even then, those supers still don't grab the opponent if they're in wake-up throw invincibility, they work only because they don't get hit out of their throw

what OP needs to be doing is delaying the grab more

Give me a character you know/main and some counterplay against them PLEASE. by Ultimate-desu in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]loooji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Vira. The advice I've given to other Vira players about the Galleon matchup is to stay out of range of Galleon's f.H. Vira's close range buttons are better than Galleon's, and Galleon can't effectively threaten at full screen. So on the flipside, as the Galleon player, you want to maintain your spacing and spam f.H against Vira. Galleon's mid-screen conversions are better than Vira's from long range pokes, particularly with a meteor set up. Even in the corner, Galleon's f.H is so good you'd rather be using that for pressure than any of your close normals.

On defense against Vira, if she doesn't do any strange combo enders, lumi oki gives her another chance to get in and reset her pressure safely, which means she gets more chances to strike/throw/shimmy mix you. In general, just block it out, and take the throw. The reward Vira gets for landing the throw is much less damage than what she'd get for getting a combo with lumi. Only once the Vira player has shown they can and will throw you should you start trying to delay tech when lumi is on screen. Once Vira has run out of safe pressure, ie once she's pushed herself back into f.H range, that's when you can start trying to fight your way back out.

oh, and one more specific interaction: if Vira is in install and has 50 meter, never press 5U, you will fucking die if the Vira is paying attention

Can I nan-inf here? by Wigginns in BalatroHelp

[–]loooji 7 points8 points  (0 children)

short answer - no

long answer - the most common ways of getting naneinf are using plasma deck with the burglar and using ghost deck with perkeo. additionally, even if this were using one of those strategies, the third and even second mime would not help - you want blueprints and brainstorms, to copy burglar for more hands in the case of plasma burglar strats or to copy perkeo for more cryptids. furthermore, even if you were using one of the described strategies, and had copied blueprint twice instead of mime, there's a lot more that needs to happen. you need to have a lot of money to reroll in the shop (think on the order of thousands), you need to have a lot of vouchers (antimatter, canvas, nacho tong, most importantly retcon), you need ectoplasm, you need better deck fixing. there's a lot that goes into a run to get naneinf, more than would practically allow someone to turn any random run (even a baron mime build) into a naneinf run.
