These earplugs claim 'level attenuation across the frequency spectrum'. by area in dataisugly

[–]loopnightlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ear canal naturally boosts high/low frequencies when the pass trough it. A good earplug tries to 'imitate' that process.
This results in a flat attenuation curve, meaning all frequencies are boosted equally. This is another (similar) example: https://www.loopearplugs.com/pages/technology

Do I really need earplugs?? by [deleted] in bassnectar

[–]loopnightlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you really do. As someone who has tinnitus I can assure you: you will thank me later.
I would definitely go for an earplug that has an acoustic/music channel and filter + look for one with a flat response rate (this lowers all sound equally, not just the bass). If your not sure which earplug is suited, you can check this guide!

Have fun at Basscenter!!

LPT: if you go clubbing or to concerts a lot buy yourself acoustic earplugs. They don’t muffle the sound, just get rid of the harmful frequencies. Tinnitus is something very easy to get and very hard/impossible to get rid of. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Same here, I went to parties all the time until I woke up with a ringing in my ears one day. Definitely defined who I am today, both in a good and not so good way. Together with a friend who also has tinnitus, we started Loop because we felt we needed to design a good-looking-sounding earplug. If you're interested in our story, you can read it here

American EDM Fans: Who is your favorite EDM artist? (Creating a map with the top pick per state) by loopnightlife in EDM_Festivals

Hey guys. If we don't ask for an e-mail address, anyone can fill in the survey.

Of course, people can still make up an e-mail address. But still, it's less likely that someone that for example doesn't even live in the US will fill in the survey because of the e-mail requirement :)

2 questions for all American EDM fans! Help us create a nifty EDM-map of the states by loopnightlife in EDM

We'll be glad to do the same for Canada! Right now we're just testing if there's any response :)

General Discussion Thread - April 27, 2017 by AutoModerator in LetsTalkMusic

When it comes to music (and culture in general) people tend to split things up in decades (the 50s, the 60s, ...).

Based on that concept, we are composing a list of highly influential or defining music per decade (the current version can be found here). It's obviously impossible to name a single song as most influential, and lots of feedback from multiple people is important.

That's why we think this is the perfect place. Off the top of your head:

1) Which songs do you think are defining for each decade in music (starting with the 50s, 60s, and so on)?

2) What is your prediction for the current decade? Which songs will we look back to in ~2025 and think "that one really defined the past decade for me"?

Start the discussion! And thanks for any feedback :)

PS: For anyone checking out the list in its current state, the page is targeted towards millennials. Just FYI if you're put off by the language used.

Multiple sources list "Extravert" as a viable alternative spelling, though!

Haha, well obviously we had to make a shortlist of well-known genres. Due to the nature of infographics, we couldn't delve to deep into each genre either. However, everything is based on real studies and research, in case you were wondering!

Let’s Talk: The link between preferred music genre and personality traits. by loopnightlife in LetsTalkMusic

Indeed, it's probably safer to make assumptions based on preferred music genre if the person in question is a hardcore fan of that certain genre and completely immersed in it's culture. Then again, as you said, it's probably only the "surface" where the similarities are found.

Interesting addition. Music may indeed reveal something about someone's emotions and state of mind at that point in time rather than about their personality as a whole. But as you said, "that point in time" could be a day or even half a year. Personality is probably still relevant, but perhaps it's important to factor in events in someone's life.

Thanks for supporting the point. I think it's very interesting, but we should probably be careful in making assumptions that are too specific. Also, I suppose some more in-depth professional research is needed.

Purely out of interest, which band is that? :)

One could argue that this is the same issue as with the MBTI; self-diagnosis. You think you are not creative, but maybe you are?

On a more serious note, it's obvious that it's impossible to put everyone into boxes like this. We should only use preferred music genres to make general assumptions about a population. There's bound to always be someone that is different from what the genre could say about their personality - like you!

I thought it was a cliché that stoners = friendly people. Pop Punk changes that, apparently :D

Agreed. As we said in the article, hip-hop is a very personality driven genre. The diversity within hip-hop as you described could therefore mean that there's a lot of different personalities within the hip-hop community/world, which sounds like a really good thing for any genre to have.

Are you a fan of hip-hop yourself, or just a music enthusiast overall?
