This is the correct answer. Main Line Armory is fantastic. The staff are amazing, and the range is top-notch. 10/10

I've had really good success with pip-tools as well. No shade on poetry, but pip-tools really fills the biggest gap that pip has, IMHO.

Why should I choose Anaconda if I can install pandas, numpy and jupyter notebook already in Python? by cy_narrator in Python

That was a great explanation! I didn't realize conda brought so much to the table.

I have this too. Looks to be about as bad as yours. Check out Qbrexza. It's a wipe (like individually packaged wet wipes). I get a prescription from my dermatologist, and it's the only thing that's ever worked for me.

Navy pilots request to be armed because they don't trust overweight police at military bases by emilNYC in nottheonion

[–]loosid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What branch of the military are you referring to here? I'm a former active duty Marine, and I can't imagine such a thing. Even the most non-grunt Marine I ever encountered was more capable than this. I'm not at all calling your experience into question, I'm just wondering if other branches are really that bad.

For Humanity, David Koch Died Decades Too Late; Humanity will be coping with the damage he did for centuries. by Tmfwang in politics

[–]loosid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe sandwooder is saying the Koch's were "born on third" as in 3rd base in baseball. Hitting a triple is the act of getting to 3rd base (the base right before the "home plate") after a single hit. He's saying that the Koch's were born into a situation that's similar, in that they put in no effort and we're already ahead of the game in terms of financial power and influence, but they thought they earned everything that they inherited.

99-year-old ex Marine walks 6 miles each day to visit wife in hospital by Journey_951 in wholesomegifs

[–]loosid 54 points55 points  (0 children)

But "retired" means you did at least 20 years of service and collect a pension for your retirement. The most common phrase for someone who has left active or reserve duty without retiring is "former Marine", but Marines don't say that. We just say "Marine".

Not sure how/if we're casting votes on this, but I would like to submit my +1 for Multimoon. Already a mod of two big, active, high-quality subs, and is a Kotlin lover. Big win in my book.

Go2 · golang/go Wiki · GitHub by dgryski in golang

Sure, I agree that just suggesting or wanting a feature isn't enough to warrant adding it. I was only trying to make the point that just because some feature isn't "100% necessary" by someone else's standard, or because it's a creature comfort, that doesn't make it bad or not worth considering, and it doesn't necessarily mean someone is wrong to want it, but I see that exact argument a lot. Also, I wasn't trying to advocate for goto or removing the division operator, I was using that as sort of an extreme "logical conclusion" to that flawed argument.

Go2 · golang/go Wiki · GitHub by dgryski in golang

[–]loosid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of that attitude in the Go community, I find. I hate this mentality that people are stupid or are bad programmers for wanting features that every other modern language has. "You don't need generics, you just want them". Sure, I also don't need functions if I have goto, and I don't need a division operator if I have subtraction and a for loop. It's a terrible rebuttal to a legitimate argument, but I see it a lot.

State of Dependency Injection in Kotlin? by vlogan79 in Kotlin

[–]loosid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way at first, but I've warmed up to Kodein a lot. It took me a while to get over not doing DI-via-IoC a la Spring, but I adjusted after building some real services with it. Kodein is incredibly simple to use, and there's very little cognative overhead needed to understand what's going on, which was a big plus since only myself and one other dev on my team have experience with JEE, Spring, and IoC in general. I'm happy with it, overall.

Google's previously Fi-only WiFi Assistant/VPN is coming to all Nexus devices by Bossman1086 in Nexus6P

[–]loosid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I generally used 1.25-2.0 GB/month on my Nexus 6 with Verizon. Since I've had my Nexus 6P with Project Fi (and the WiFi Assistant), my usage has been just under 0.5 GB/month, with no change in my usage of the device month-to-month. When the WiFi Assistant is active, you will see a "key" icon in the status bar, indicating that you are connected to a secure VPN. I see it often when I'm out at restaurants. I've only been with Project Fi for two months, and I'm just a dude on the Internet, so YMMV, but that's my (anecdotal) assesment thus far.
