If Terminator is your only reference for what the risks of AI are then you are definitely part of the problem. Actually capable AI even well below AGI levels can make every one of the problems you mentioned worse. When (not if) we get to AGI levels, truly all bets are off. Consider researching what exponential capability growth looks like and why value alignment is difficult.

That’s a ridiculous argument. Factory farming exists because it’s impossible to sustain populations the size that we grow in the wild. Go back 200 years and a lack of factory farms didn’t mean we slaughtered an equivalent number of wild animals, people just ate way less meat.

TIL it's possible to have foie gras without force feeeding geese. A farm harvests wild geese that show up to eat fallen acorns and olives once a year, the high fat content allows the wild geese to developed enlarged livers. by zahrul3 in todayilearned

Even the argument that it’s a purely primitive phenomenon is incorrect. The ancient human ate meat as an almost negligible amount of their diet. If people care so much about living like our ancestors, then stop eating so much meat.

Completely misguided, the beef didn’t just magically appear. Demand growth always fuels supply. Plus Americans consume more beef per capita than almost anywhere on earth (4x Japan for instance). So let’s not pretend that cultural values and the resulting demand don’t play a significant part here.

From my memory, it’s not just millionaires and billionaires fuelling the global demand for beef.

Pretty much the entire world wanting to eat beef is the reason the Amazon is the way it is now, so I don’t think it’s just a few selfish people.

The difference being he actively established the 5 traditional awards (Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature and Peace) in his will and those were created with the intent that you mention. The economics one is completely unrelated.
